Bush`s strategy....Point to a giraffe but say it`s a tadpole.
Or, point to a failure and call it a success. Talk about clever strategy. Umpteen million Americans will rise up from their Jon Benet Ramsey updates and cheer. Yippee! President Bush just had more success! USA...USA...USA.

This is our problem in a nutshell, Rove`s fierce crafting of "The Message" and a media willing to spread it. The truth, in Bush`s hands, is as malleable as Play-Doh in a bench vise. Just one rotation of the lever and occupation is called freedom, war is called peace, disaster is called a fun day at the park. This is what we`re up against and this is what we must defeat.

The Bushies have stripped the word "warrantless" from the Democrat`s debate on wiretaps, leaving the impression that we don`t want our government to listen in on "terrorists` conversations. They`ve taken ownership of the American flag and have left the impression that it belongs solely to them since they "won" the election. They`ve demeaned honorable, courageous, anti-Iraq-war veterans and wagged their fingers at them during sermonettes on patriotism. No Democrats fighting in Iraq, you know, just red-blooded Republicans, the only true Americans. They`ve turned Cindy Sheehan into a pesky clown and the "Jersey Girls" into yakety-yak rabblerousers....liberal and, by definition, weak.
The obscene deficit is a badge of honor, highlighting their willingness to put everything on the line in the name of freedom. Gun-to-the-head arm-twisting is really polished diplomacy and idle FEMA campers prove Bush is ever at the ready. Constant Crawford vacations just mean the White House works out West and Cheney`s secret Iraqi oilfield maps just mean he`s the Go-To Oil Expert.

There is a White House machine somewhere that guarantees a twisted reality will force its way into the daily top spot, ham...ham...hammering away at salient points. Underneath it all is that festering reminder....any and all dissent abets any and all enemies. Somehow we must find our way toward party unity and a clear and powerful message. Democrats, when united, are a force to be reckoned with.

1. Great rant!
And excellent points, too. The Republicans control the message and say what they want us to believe to be true. Never mind the pesky facts. Just ignore them and they will go away.

Dems have to get ahead of this spin, but it's difficult when you're the minority party.

2. Right On!
And let's add their Crystal Ball. They so frequently tell us what is going to happen without any specific empirical evidence of any kind. Just fill in the blanks "__________ will ___________" with the glossary that Karl Rove supplies.
