Matt Drudge and Republican Hypocrisy
Last night I had the misfortune to listen to Matt Druge for a small amount of time. For that short time I heard what the Republican theme will be for this election. Fear the brown people. It was just so crazy and stupid last night. Drudge while promoting the idea that there would be some type of violence over this issue (immigration) made a big deal about the fact that Los Angeles will no longer have a country music station. Yes, of all things to complain about and make a big deal about Drudge was lamenting the fact that Los Angeles' last country station will soon be changed over to some other programming. I was a little shocked. What does country music have to do with the immigration debate? I know that Drudge is just using this to get white people angry, but come on could he have not used a more reasonable thing to complain about. In addition, it was interesting that Drudge did not have a good grasp of history. I am not a big supporter of illegal immigration, but I think the Republicans do not want a solution; they just want white votes. However, their was a recording of an Hispanic sounding kid who pointed out that America started out as a group of immigrants. Drudge tried to say that this kid had been mislead by the public school system. However, the Europeans who came to this country could be viewed as illegal immigrants in that the Native Americans did not invite to come here.

Secondly, Drudge showed another bit of Republican Hypocrisy. Drudge, I believe was one of the Republicans who were completely happy about the Patroit Act. Now Drudge is complaining that he and others have to give up all their personnel items when they fly. It seems to me that Drudge has the feeling that as long as it is not me I am fine with it, but when it begins to affect me than I get pissed.

1. Drudge was much more effective........
selling popcorn in movie theaters than he has been as a "movement conservative" mouthpiece.

3. This is partly why Republicans are so for racial profiling at airports
they want the illusion of security, but they don't want to be inconvenienced.

7. Then why would he be upset about country music in LA?
After all, if someone could make money with a country music station in LA, they'd do it, right? That's that whole Libertarian magic-of-the-marketplace liturgy, isn't it? Or is Drudge suggesting that the government should own and run a country music station in LA, at least until one could turn a big enough profit for some lucky, well-connected entrepreneur to take over?

5. Therein lies the problem....
Country music has everything to do with immigration in their minds because the loss of the white country station must mean that something ethnic will be taking its place.
