2. bush does make that point sort of clear.
of course he gets a lot of help from the press corps.

''the terrorists will follow us over here...'' uh prove that -- especially if you are doing your damn job.

3. anybody from a powerful family with tons of money and willingness to cheat
I don't know your teachers, but somehow, I don't think that's what they meant. They were probably thinking more "Abraham Lincoln" and less "Coke-addled idiot born on third base."

5. Now you know how I've felt for years - ever since .........
....Reagan was elected TWICE to the White House. An actor of all things - you know they read a script and pretend to be real - in the White House and now this thing.

I no longer have any faith whatsoever in the American people. In my opinion the Democratic/Progressive parties are just as bad - in different ways and for different reasons - as the neocons/fundies. (The recent uproar over Israel and Lebanon proves my point. The neocons/fundies were just as radical in their support of Israel as the democrats/progressives were in their condemnation of Israel.)

I'm not even convinced at this point that an Independent party would help much.

6. Run and Hide
Quote: ''the terrorists will follow us over here"

That must be the most cowardly phrase about war anyone has ever spoken. He seems to be saying:
If we don't kill innocent people there, the terrorists will come here and kill innocent people. If innocent people gotta die, let it be there, even if we have to do the killing.

Here's a clue. Innocent people did die here because this President, who is now so concerned about American citizens, would not pay attention to information he was getting concerning bin Laden and his plans. Of course, even if he had paid attention his 'fix' most likely would have been a disaster as has been proven over and over and over and over in the past five years in everything he has done.

This is exactly the kind of mindset this administration exhibits all of the time. They hid when it was their turn to fight in a war designated as 'service for this country'. Even worse, Bush pretended to do his part, then he ran away to do some brave campaigning for his father's chosen. And lied about it.

They sicken me. How is it all right to kill innocent people anywhere? How is "better to kill them than us" a legitimate reason to invade a country?
It's shallow thinking and disgusting.
"We've fixed it so they die over there" doesn't seem to be the plan of a stable person.

7. I saw Reagan speak at a foreign policy forum in 1976
I didn't agree with much of what he said but he was articulate and sounded intelligent. I don't know when the Alzheimers started to affect him, but even on his last day in office (and he certainly was showing signs then) he was more articulate than Bush.

Not that Reagan was any great shakes, but it's all relative.

10. I agree that Reagan did seem "articulate and sounded intelligent"......
....after all he had good speech writers. PLUS and this was most important - Reagan was used to memorizing lines, performing in front of cameras, reading off of TelePrompters, reading from cue cards, and generally acting like an ACTOR. So it doesn't surprise me that people found him to be "...articulate and sounded intelligent".

The only part that surprises me is people actually thought those performances in front of the camera was the "real Reagan".

9. An actor with obvious symptoms of Alzheimers, no less.
Anyone could see it in the last couple of years.

That's probably why the neocons knew they could put in the chimp. If they could handle Reagan, during his infirmity, they could handle an idiot like Bush.

11. WE WILL NOT LEAVE IRAQ WHILE I AM PRESIDENT!! PERIOD!
That's the message baby! Congress...go 'F' yourself! Common people...go 'F' yourself.

Bush stated emphatically that he is taking Congressional Powers away from our elected representatives. He announced in no uncertain terms that he is the Unitary Authority. The rest of us are just chaffe.
