McCain agrees with inherent powers..........
heard a clip of him on one of the morning talk shows stating that if he was president the surveillance program they are now using is an inherent right. And that the ruling by Judge Anna Diggs will be and should be overturned. You know, I think there was a day when laws were being violated right and left, republicans and democrats both would have been outraged. Boy, how times have changed. Not only are the republicans, as a whole supporting it wholeheartedly, but we have democrats who don't think it is impeachable to break laws and violate the constitution.

1. Watching him now
What a waffler.....it is hard to hold his position. London used warrants and did not violate laws.

4. McCain plays on both sides of the fence. Never
trust a fence-straddler. His soft-spoken manner covers up a lot of ego.

3. The Constitution
(Just reread it recently and was struck by how obviously the preponderance of the power is vested in the leglislature.)

Article II on the presidency contains absolutely nothing that can be intrepreted as an inherent power to contravene basic rights and other laws - other than the one clause designating the President as Commander in Chief of the armed forces. So the inherent argument of inherency is that this allows contravention of other laws and constitutional provisions, presumably in a "time of war" (which has been defined as perpetual).

Do they ever even bother to spell this out? Do they have any other clause they like to cite?!

6. He thinks he is a shoe-in for the position in 2008.
He will regret he agreed with *co on this one if this is the basis for impeachment.

8. McCain is bad news. He is no longer a maverick; he is instead
a hypocrite.
