Is Murtha getting the last laugh? (One of Most Popular Dems)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06232/714611-84.stm

What a difference nine months makes.

Last November, Rep. John Murtha thundered onto the national scene insisting that the U.S. military could accomplish nothing more in Iraq, could only make things worse. The Johnstown Democrat called for pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq.

At the time, many of his Democratic colleagues considered his stance suicidal for their party when they're trying to regain control of Congress despite having long been seen as weak on national security.

Now, Mr. Murtha is one of the most popular Democrats around. In recent weeks, he has raised money for Democrats campaigning in New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York and California. In Tennessee, he was former Vice President Al Gore's guest at a fundraiser for local Democrats. After Labor Day, Mr. Murtha will head back out on the road, helping up to four dozen candidates.

He said events had proved him right.

2. Rather Prefer Him As Secretary Of Defense
for years he ran a shadow operation with the military building up relationships with the brass and military contractors, so why not make it official?

3. Rep. Murtha may be the next House Majority Leader.

I think he is too old for Vice President, however. I'd prefer someone who can run for President in 2016 as Vice President.

4. You know what... we haven't talked about that much on here...
But I REALLY hope he is our next House leader!!!

I personally like Nancy Pelosi, but I think she does only a fair.. or maybe below fair job of being the House spokesperson for the Democratic Party.

She just gets too tounge-tied and she rarely speaks for very long without stumbling on her words and having to correct herself. Also, for a spokesperson... she blinks too much while she's talking.

Murtha on the other hand is forceful, articulate, and he KICKS ASS!!!

I really do like Nancy Pelosi.. but as far as someone who I want to put out there as a spokesperson, she just doesn't top my list..

Go Murtha!

14. You mean a house leader that's not going to be indicted
someone who will stand up for the constitution and responsibile leadership, I am not sure I
can stand the SHOCK! All the current GOP'ers are like minnows swimming around with the
net of the Abramoff investigation still being cast. Whatever happened with that, I thought
there were 60 involved with Abramoff.

10. Murtha Kicks Ass
Yes, you are right, Murtha does kick ass. He doesn't waste words like a lot of pussyfoot Democrats. Don't tiptoe around issues. Get out there and hold the republicans' feet to the fire. And I second the Secretary of Defense position for John Murtha.

16. In the article, it says
"He has never been seen as charismatic, until now." But it is his courage that make him charismatic. People are so hungry for the truth and some leadership.
