here's ChiciB1's post on the email which IS STILL going around
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2785437here's how to handle them beyond sending them the snopes debunking pages.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/goldstar.asphttp://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blclinton.htmThis has worked for me and has been fun to watch.
Since these usually come from holier than thou "Christian" Republicans...when you send the originator the debunking links say something like this...
"When I read this it just didn't sound right. I get emails like this often and for some reason they are always from conservatives. I did some basic googling and found out that this was a lie like the other ones I regularly receive. As a Christian I am sure you do not want to perpetuate a blatant lie, a falsehood about anyone, even Hilary Clinton. I am sure this is not the kind of thing Jesus would do. Please send all the people you have passed this lie onto this link showing it was a lie and set the record straight. And also, please copy me with your correction. Please do as Jesus would do here and set the record straight."
I have shamed several wingnuts into doing this. One couldn't remember who all he had sent the lie to so he just sent out a notice to everyone in his address book. :7
Thing is, there are many people they send these to who know it is a well debunked lie, but they don't lift a finger to set the record straight. I see that at Freeperville a lot. Someone will post a lie and I know many of them know it is lie but they don't say a word. The conservative movement is an openly deceptive movement. They believe in what the cults call "Heavenly Deception" which means it is OK to lie for God and they have been conditioned to believe they and only they are doing the work of God.
You will notice that you never get these kinds of things from the left, at least I don't. That should tell people something.
anyway, try that sometime and sit back and watch the fun.
