I saw at Fire Dog Lake that the DNC is taking a vote on Lieberman...
at the meeting in Chicago starting tomorrow. I know they are arriving there today. Does anyone know what kind of vote, and which people do they mean to contact? I gather the state leaders? Maybe the DNC members for our state?

Here is the link for the state pages.

Here is the FDL diary with the comment about it.

Jane,

"You’re probably already aware of this but all of the state representatives (to the DNC) are meeting in Chicago (I believe next week) and they are taking a Lieberman vote. If it’s either overwhelming or unanimous that could be pretty hard hitting. I’m embarrassed to say that I know of this because our state committeeman spoke of it at a county Dem meeting last evening and was wondering if we (other states) should get involved - he was brought to his knees fairly rapidly and will now be voting against Lieberman at the meeting. We convinced him that it was a party issue not merely a state election issue."

Now I know it is not just the state committeepeople going, as my friend is not going and she is one. Trying to figure who to contact. I see Luis Navarro is there from the Florida state party, so I guess contacting them would be good.

Oh, and here is the link to the ongoing DNC blog coverage of this meeting.

I see C-Span is starting their coverage at 11 on Saturday, and Dean's speech is at 10. Maybe later on?

1. I don't see anything about a meeting to discuss Lieberman...
...at the DNC website.

2. No, it was at FDL.
I don't know about it, but I did hear it from someone else at another site. They sound like they have enough to cover anyway, so I am just curious.

not the party deciding on what to do with Loserman. It's time for previous supporters of Joe to shit or get off the pot.

6. Isn't this the full DNC meeting?
Not just Illinois? Or is that what you meant.

Ok, I'm officially confused.

I got this link out of the FDL comment list:

How to find your DNC delegate. Contact these people.
http://pdamerica.org/tools/issues/DNCroster.pdf#search=%E2%80%9Ddemocratic

Keep this link and I'm assuming it's a national meeting. Read down thru the comments at FDL.

8. DNC delegates, that's probably right.
They are the ones we should contact. I have not seen anything on it until I saw it at FDL tonight.

Why would the DNC be taking a vote on Lieberman?

9. That list is not up to date for Florida.
I know it says up to 2008, but it has Scott Maddox as chairman. Karen Thurman is chair, now.

Wonder where we can find an updated one? I remember when we tried to find one during voting for DNC chair, it was hard to locate this info.

This list should always updated. Sounds like there's a real need for starting an e-mail drive or petition drive. Whatever it takes. I'm sure Dr. Dean would approve.

10. "Sen. Lieberman Must Respect Decision of Voters"
http://blog01.kintera.com/chairman/archives/005199.html

Senator Lieberman asked us to respect his conscience on voting for the war in Iraq, now he must respect the conscience of Democratic voters in his home state of Connecticut in voting for Ned Lamont as their nominee to the United States Senate.

I will introduce at our Democratic National Committee meeting in Chicago on August 19th, along with Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an urgent resolution on behalf of the California DNC membership to urge Senator Lieberman to withdraw from the race and support Ned Lamont.

We cannot be bullied by the GOP’s attempts to infringe upon our nominating process and elections, nor by their attempts to ridicule the more than 60 percent of Americans who do not support Bush's war in Iraq.

We are a Party committed to a strong defense of our nation and abroad. We are a Party committed by words and deeds to a secure homeland. We will, however, never give up our inalienable right to question the foreign policies of our nation, notwithstanding the Party in office.

Our precious rights, and more importantly the lives of our young men and women serving in the Armed Forces, are at stake.

11. Thank you. First I had seen that.
I am glad they are doing this. And Dean made his views VERY clear on Meet the Press Sunday...he left no doubt he thought Lieberman should drop out and support Lamont.

Good for Torres and Waters.

Aren't they also taking the vote on the primary changes as well. Talk about controversy.
