Impeachment of *, etc.... question
I think the repubs only chance of hanging on to their offices is to immediately begin impeachment proceeding agains (at a minimum) Bush and Chaney. So it is with mixed feeling - I would love to see Bush and Changey impeached, but then I don't want to see the repubs being re=elected this year (nor in 08). Which do you think would be the ideal way to go on this?

1. Both Dems take over AND impeachments of Bush and Cheney
Why settle for anything less... don't you feel the tide turning? And if they come out crying wolf again (with distractions) it's only going to drop there numbers further... they are in a quandry now. They will have to pull out the big guns and move up plans on the big one (they have a great big distraction placed in our own country and...)

2. I think you're mistaken...

the GOP has an OK chance of hanging on to both houses of Congress. They certainly aren't in such desperate straights that they'd have to impeach Bush.

5. I think you are mistaken. The Greedy Oil Party is going DOWN.
IF we are willing to kick them out of our party ala LIEberman in CT, what do you think will happen in November?

I believe there are enough people piss off enough to finally kick their lying a$$e$ out of out government.

6. That's easy to say, but...
it doesn't play out geographically. The House is huge, so it'd take me a while to go through the whole breakdown, but look at the Senate. While protecting our vulnerable seats in Michigan and New Jersey, we would need to pick up six seats to win back the Senate. The most likely are Montana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ohio and Tennessee. Each and every one of those is more or less a tossup, with a few (Pennsylvania) more likely than others (Tennessee). For us to win all six of those is going to be extremely difficult, especially in traditionally red states like TN and in blue states where we're running against a moderate GOPper, like Rhode Island.

It's easy to just say "People are pissed, we're gonna win!" but a careful look at the demographic and geographic breakdown of the 2006 election cycle doesn't necessarily bear this out.

7. Why should they do that?
The Congressional Democrats are trying to back awy from impeachment (and shame on them, again).

8. I would like to believe that you are correct
however, I think that the Congress will pretty much stay in Republican hands, between the "safe" districts and the wonderful new voting machines, I don't expect much change. Yes, people are unhappy, but are they unhappy with Congress as a whole or their Representative(s)? Depends upon which ox is being gored?
