Sending troops their is part of the Bush agenda. Call it continuing the Fear. Call it the next step on the war on terror. Call it insuring the fundie christian hopes of starting the rapture become true.

Which is a good thing IMO since it is going to be a first class goat rope and failure. Addtionally current US policy is that we do not supply troops to UN operations unless we are in charge. The US *MAY* do some logistical support which is reasonable

3. Durbin made the point that US troops=Israeli troops

The Lebanese will perceive the US troops as the enemies - not peacekeepers. Durbin said that the US should keep their troops out of it. He said this in an interview I heard on either KPFK or Air America.
