Joe Lieberman is going to get his ass kicked again!
I realize the latest polls show him up on Lamont. However, I do not believe he will garner much more Republican support than in his past elections - maybe 5% more? Also, I do not believe he will garner the same support from Democrats as he did in the primary.

Traditionally, Joe received about 67% of the votes statewide in a mostly Democratic state. The Republican challenger has received about 33% of the total vote. However, about 7-8% of that total was Republican voters on crossover. Assuming Joe were to get one-half of all Republican votes in November would only get him 20% of the total vote from Repubs - leaving the other 20% of total votes to Schlesinger. The remaining 60% are Democratic voters. If Joe were to receive 25% of that 60%, that would add another 15% to his total - giving him 35% of the total vote under a very rosy scenario- leaving 45% for Lamont.

However, I think a more realistic scenario would be that Joe would get about 40% of a low turnout from the Repubs and about 33% of the present Democratic voters. That would give Joe about 36% of the total vote. That would still leave Lamont with 40% of the total vote and Joe would get his ass kicked again. That is my early prediction. :)

1. The independents will make the difference.
And the independents, by and large, feel the same way about Bush and the war as we do. Once Lamont begins actively communicating his message to them, it's all over for Joe.

Lets see what the Democratic party resources can do for Lamont and what happens as Liebermans resources dry up.

4. I've sent TWO emails to my Dem Senator
politely asking him to throw his support behind Ned Lamont.
Unfortunately, he's in the 'firm about not being firm' camp.
Brought up that with rigged voting machines, smear tactics and the usual dirty tricks things would be bad enough...we didn't need the party split by the Lieberman Side Show...

I'm told that while the Honorable doesn't read every single damn email that comes in, it does go into a data base, so SOMEBODY reads it...
I hope.

5. Concerned Quinnipiac poll shows Lieberman with 75% of R, 58% of I voters.
We need to see Democrats actively supporting Ned Lamont, like John Edwards is doing today, not more comments like Joe Biden made today on Imus, that he's "not going to campaign against Lieberman."

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/x11362.xml?ReleaseID=948

Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman, running as an independent, gets 53 percent of likely voters, with 41 percent for Democratic primary winner Ned Lamont and 4 percent for Republican Alan Schlesinger, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Among registered voters, Sen. Lieberman gets 49 percent, followed by Lamont with 38 percent and Schlesinger with 4 percent. This compares to a 51 - 27 percent Lieberman lead over Lamont, with 9 percent for Schlesinger in a July 20 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

In this latest survey, Lieberman leads 75 - 13 - 10 percent among likely Republican voters, and 58 - 36 - 3 percent among likely independent voters, while likely Democratic voters back Lamont 63 - 35 percent. Two percent are undecided, but 28 percent of those who name a candidate might change their mind before Election Day.

"Sen. Lieberman's support among Republicans is nothing short of amazing. It more than offsets what he has lost among Democrats. As long as Lieberman maintains this kind of support among Republicans, while holding onto a significant number of Democratic votes, the veteran Senator will be hard to beat," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D.

"Ned Lamont's Democratic primary win was based on a very small percentage of voters statewide. He must expand beyond this base if he is going to beat Lieberman."

10. Sshhhhh! The Repugs aren't supposed to know yet...
...we have to get them to funnel all sorts of money into Joe's campaign, which we will secretly use for our own party building operations. :silly:
