Our Frustrated Leader
Our Frustrated Leader
August 16th, 2006 @ 7:16 pm

Poor Clueless George… the NY Times reports that Bush made it clear in a private meeting earlier this week that he was “concerned about the lack of progress in Iraq and frustrated that the new Iraqi government — and the Iraqi people — had not shown greater public support for the American mission.” Excuse me if I don’t join the pity party or break out the violins for our frustrated leader.

“I sensed a frustration with the lack of progress on the bigger picture of Iraq generally — that we continue to lose a lot of lives, it continues to sap our budget,” said one person who attended the meeting. “The president wants the people in Iraq to get more on board to bring success.”

Another person who attended the session said he interpreted Mr. Bush’s comments less as an expression of frustration than as uncertainty over the prospects of the new Iraqi government. “He said he really didn’t quite have a sense yet of how effective the government was,” said this person, who, like several who discussed the session, agreed to speak only anonymously because it was a private lunch.

More generally, the participants said, the president expressed frustration that Iraqis had not come to appreciate the sacrifices the United States had made in Iraq, and was puzzled as to how a recent anti-American rally in support of Hezbollah in Baghdad could draw such a large crowd. “I do think he was frustrated about why 10,000 Shiites would go into the streets and demonstrate against the United States,” said another person who attended.

True to course for the administration that refuses to change course, the White House would not comment on the details of the discussion reported by the NY Times.

1. He has problems with numbers.
I thought the initial reports of the Shia demonstrations were well into the TENS of thousands.

Damn Iraqi focus groups!

7. He has trouble with maps, too

Via Juan Cole) Link: QUESTION: How can the international force, or the United States if necessary, prevent Iran from resupplying Hezbollah?

BUSH: The first step is -- and part of the mandate in the U.N. resolution was to secure Syria's borders. Iran is able to ship weapons to Hezbollah through Syria. . . . In other words, part of the mandate and part of the mission of the troops, the UNIFIL troops, will be to seal off the Syrian border.

We are so screwed.

9. It is a sort of justice
The bush clan has dripped with evil since the early 20th century.
Had the chimp's grandfather had his way, the swastika would fly over Washington today.
It was inevitable that they be punished with offspring like the chimp.
