The next Lamont: John Bonifaz of Massachusetts
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=3253

The next Ned Lamont lies just across the Connecticut border in Massachusetts, where voting rights leader John Bonifaz is similarly taking on the Democratic Party establishment in his grassroots campaign for Secretary of State. Bonifaz, a Democrat who sued George Bush on the eve of the Iraq war on behalf of soldiers, families of soldiers and members of Congress trying to prevent the illegal invasion, squares off against the incumbent, Bill Galvin, on September 19.

But the Lamont connection runs even deeper. Bill Hillsman, the media guru who produced the winning ads for Lamont and Paul Wellstone, is eager to jump into the race on the Bonifaz campaign, which could be the final ingredient that puts John over the top. What John needs now is the financial support to make the Hillsman addition a reality — and if he can raise $25,000 August 23, it will happen.

3. These people are all cynics.
They are still playing democratic party politics I am sad to say, so it is still all about the f***ing money. How many people ask you for money every single day? Five? ten? It is overwhelming! And at a time that we are struggling here. It is past the point of the ridiculous.

5. true, he's no Lieberman, however ...
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 11:30 PM by welshTerrier2
Galvin has done nothing about addressing the voting machine problems in Massachusetts ... i've spent some time talking to his staff about this and it is an absolute mess ...

there is no post-election audit process to ensure the integrity of the widely-used optical scanning machines ... they are "just not interested" ... the testing procedures they use before the elections for the machines are pathetic ...

the response I got from one of Galvin's "senior election officials",and i quote, was "it's like terrorism ... you're never going to catch everything" ...

there is just ZERO excuse for failing to implement a post-election audit process either on a sampling basis or by verifying every single vote ... voting is the foundation of our democracy and inadequate internal controls have left us exposed to possible election fraud ...

Galvin's not a bad guy; he's certainly not Lieberman; he's just not taking care of business ... it's time for a fresh face with some fresh ideas ... Bonifaz is clearly the better choice ...

4. Jon Bonifaz is going to win
I can feel it in my bones.

he doesn't need a ton of money to win, just lots of foot soldiers and door knocking and a great field team.

I think Bonifaz is the backbone of america. he has to win SOS on MA.

Everyone should give liberally to the man and help in any way possible.

His hearings on the Downingstreet memos, his legal fighting for election fraud in Ohio, his overall tenacity and level-headed persistently aggressive attacks of all that smells putrid of Buschco, well, my friends, if we give him the keys to elections in MA, we'll see an overturning of the crappy elections (rigged by Diebold elections) that that state has had to endure like the governor...

imagine massachussetts going back to it's pure democratic roots... Democratic governor, Democratic SOS, Democratic Lietenant Governor.. I can't wait to hear the GOP scream "activist Judges" when the whole fucking state of MA declares gay people

6. I love Bonifaz - but distorting Galvin as Lieberman is a LIE - a TOTAL LIE
Let the vote play out the way it needs to - distorting it is just wrong, makes Bonifaz supporters out to be opportunists in their use of false smears, and cheapens the process.
