Plane diverted from London to Boston, jets scrambled, etc...
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 10:08 AM by Sparkly
BOSTON - Fighter jets escorted a diverted London-to-Washington, D.C., flight to Boston's Logan airport Wednesday after a distraught passenger pulled out a screw driver, matches, Vaseline and a note referencing al-Qaida, an airport spokesman said.

Federal officials are saying they don't think it's "terror-related."

'promoting terrorism', and say, "But I was just doing my job"

6. Boston TV going nuts over this
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 10:13 AM by MethuenProgressive
Seems "armed fighter jets" is the current buzz word.
...as if there's a chance "un-armed, non-fighter, propeller planes" would've been dispatched.

7. Which did she threaten with, the screwdriver, matches or Vaseline?
Edited on Wed Aug-16-06 10:18 AM by Missy M
Personally, I would be most afraid of the Vaseline.

11. So Boston is more expendable than DC?
Maybe we should have a referendum to see how the voters think
about that one...in preparation for the next "terrorist".

17. I wondered the same thing
Just been watching the antics here in the UK on CNN Int. All the luggage spread out across the runway and sniffer dogs. Not sure how vaseline would normally be described - not gel or liquid so technically no offence. Al Q ref was probably just a book on the subject or maybe a magazine article.

In the other important news - The Horns in Watford has got an Oasis cover band tomorrow night....:)

19. It sounds like the person was trying to force her execution...
It's the same concept as "suicide by cop". SOmetimes individuals are suicidal, but cannot force themsleves to "pull the trigger", so they force someone else who is armed to do it for them. Happens more than people know.

23. Just heard another official "denial"
So, somebody pulled that list of items out of their ass.

In case of emergency, you can trust the media's right on the scene, broadcasting inaccurate information!
