Casey vs. Santorum?
What the hell is happening in PA.? Casey's lead has dropped from 18 points to 6 or 7 points. With the Green party candidate, Romanelli, Casey has a 6 point lead. In a Casey vs. Santorum only, it's a 7 point lead. :wtf:  :grr: :banghead:

1. Maybe that is because Cssy supports the Iraq war, opposes abortion.

3. Im not from PA, but Ive been following the race VERY closely.
1. Santorum has a ton of cash (2 to 1 over Casey) and he's not shy about dropping millions on TV ad's. He has released 10 or so ads in the past few months compared to Casey's 2.

2. Santorum is blatantly lieing in his ads and literature. He's claiming to be a champion of Social Security, but in reality he spearheaded President Bush's attempts to privatize Social Security.

3. Casey is an uninspiring candidate. Love em' or hate em', Rick is good in front of the cameras and can really fire up his base. Casey, well, Im not even sure he has a base.

5. You should check out some of these Santorum ad's that are

hitting the PA airwaves.

They are literally unbelievable. After watching them you'll be confused as to whether Santorum is a democrat or republican... whether he is a tolerant human being or a POS homophobe.

One things for sure, he's a master of distortion.

6. Damn you're right.
I watched several of the ads and to the uneducated mind, it would be hard to discern his party. I don't like this one bit.:scared:

8. As a PA resident, I'll offer my valuless opinion
Casey is a weak candidate, and not my first choice. He was the chosen one by Gov Rendell and Chuck Shumer. From what I've heard, he was chosen for name recognition and has no base. I rarely turn on the TV, but Santorum ads are always on and I've yet to see one for Casey. We exist in an information abyss and I think that explains it all. The average person doesn't have the time or understand the cost of making poorly informed decisions. I think those two items explain Santorum having any credibility.

7. I live in PA and Casey hasn't begun spending yet
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 07:46 PM by bronxiteforever
Little Ricky (I can't believe he is in the Senate!-shouting to myself) has spent alot recently. He is all over TV with feel good ads. But Casey just started to campaign. Despite what people think about Casey's stance on abortion, he is really very strong on classic Democratic economics. He also appears to be a decent person unlike Satan's minion whom presently holds the seat. Santorum wants to privatize social security and PA has quite a few senior voters. This will hurt him.
I still feel Casey will win by 10. The Iraq war has been off tv news for a month and when it comes back on-he will fall behind again. This election is all about the GOP trying to hide the disaster of the Iraq War from the public.
Just my humble 2 cents.

11. How do his campaign coffers
compare to Santorum's? Based on what I've learned here Santorum is outspending Casey. I hope Casey can catch up.

9. The betting odds were never higher than 4/1
This race was improperly labeled a certain runaway on liberal blogs. Casey lost the gov primary to Rendell in '02, so it's not like he's invincible.

This is a vote-against scenario and that's always much more flimsy and undependable, as opposed to someone the voters are eager to vote for.

nickshepDEM did a good job detailing the situation, Santorum's warchest opening up while trying to define and damage Casey.

Look, we're opposing incumbents so these are not going to be routs. Right now in several races the GOP and incumbent cash advantage is kicking in. Once the fall campaign is engaged in September we will go back on the air, including money from the national committee.

I'm still confident we'll win this race.

12. The two most recent polls have the same number
45-39 with 16% undecided.

Here's a good site that lists the polls in a chart, most recent one on top. He tilts right but if you ignore the analysis and comments it's useful for the numbers. The Pennsylvania chart is the second one right now, updated earlier today: http://www.myelectionanalysis.com/

13. I haven't had a chance to
check other polls yet. I still find it disturbing that Casey would lose 11-12 points in less than two months. I hope you know of more encouraging polls. Thanks in advance.

14. I am from PA and most of my family is still there, I live just over the
bridge in NJ. This is my perspective. The summer in the PA area is serious vacation time, Eastern PA heads to the Jersey Shore (sometimes every weekend). I cannot speak for Western PA where Ricky is more appealing, but here it would be a waist of financial resources to advertise till Sept. after the vacations are done.

Honestly, how much tv do you watch on vacation. I believe the spending will start and the spread will widen in the polls, plus, if the pollster polls and your not home..

18. If he loses he will be doing no better than the worst that Pennachio
would have done. And he supported the entire Democratic Party platform, unlike some candidates in this particular race. But that is is neither here nor there, Casey is certain to win, it has been guaranteed...
