NYT: Lieberman’s Closest Adviser
The factoid that first caught my attention in this profile of Joe's wife was this: "And soon, the couple will move from their home of more than two decades in New Haven to an apartment (in Israel)". Are they already planning to move? Depending on the dimensions of "soon", does that sound like someone who's planning to campaign, then serve a six year term in the US Senate?

But in addition to that, I hope that the Democratic candidate doesn't engage in exchanges like this one -at least not when there are reporters around:

Another morning, at a diner in Norwalk, Mrs. Lieberman pushed her husband to finish a conversation with several reporters.

First: “Joey, drink your water.”

A moment later, Mrs. Lieberman brought him half a tuna sandwich, which sat untouched for several minutes as Mr. Lieberman discussed the threat from Hezbollah.

“Joey, eat your sandwich,” she implored.

Then Mrs. Lieberman looked urgently at her watch. It was past 1 p.m., and they were on the verge of missing a flight back to Washington, she said.

“Joey, Joey, we have to go soon,” she said. But she always said it with a smile.

Mr. Lieberman laughed in mock offense. “Honey, we’re discussing world events here.”

2. I'm no Lieberman fan, but . . .
That behavior doesn't strike me as objectionable or especially surprising. A bit homey, in fact -- do you think good buddy Karl staged it for them?

3. It sounds really stage mother-ish to me.
Trying to relate it personally, if my SO wanted to rush me around friends, he'd probably be straightforward about it. But in front of the press? It sure doesn't present an image of strength or independence, imo.

Oh well, different strokes... :)

4. Granted, it was ambiguous.
But I took it to mean that although the daughter is moving to Israel, Mr. and Mrs. Lieberman are moving from a house to an apartment in New Haven.

5. Sounded that way to me, too
It wasn't very clear, but he really couldn't be pulling this running as an independent thing if he were about to emigrate.
