Poll: Seven dwarfs more famous than US judges...
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060814/us_nm/life_poll_dc

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Three quarters of Americans can correctly identify two of Show White's seven dwarfs while only a quarter can name two Supreme Court Justices, according to a poll on pop culture released on Monday.

According to the poll by Zogby International, commissioned by the makers of a new game show on pop culture called "Gold Rush," 57 percent of Americans could identify J.K. Rowling's fictional boy wizard as Harry Potter, while only 50 percent could name the British prime minister, Tony Blair.

The pollsters spoke to 1,213 people across the United States. The results had a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.

1. Since only about 50% of Americans can recognize...
...themselves in the mirror, this poll isn't much of a surprise. The one thing we will always lead the world in is dumb.

I remember when I was in Miami on business and the waitress in a restaurant noticed my slight Irish accent. She asked where I was from and, when I told her I'd lived in Ireland for a long time, said, "Oh, yeah. Ireland. That's some place near Europe, isn't it? I think you've got all kinds of problems with the PLO over there, haven't you?" She said she knew this because she'd studied it recently at college. When I enquired as to her major, she said, 'international relations.' Well, that explains it.

3. Lol...I hear you

My Dad's nickname here (in the US)is Swede. A former co-worker of Dad's asked another co-worker "How's Swede doing? He was from Norway wasn't he?"

Definitely brain drain material.

Cheers
