Can Joe LIEberman legally use campaign funds he raised as a Democrat...
...if he's now running as an Independent?

Call your congress people and ask them!
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/directory/congdir.tt

At the very least, LIEberman should be forced to return any remaining funds he raised while he was running as a Democrat.

If you donated money to a Democrat, and that person changes parties, shouldn't you get your money back?

Call your congress people and ask them to investigate!

2. He wasn't officially the Democratic candidate
although he was a Democrat at the time. I'm sure Joe will do the right thing and...nevermind.

3. Yes. I remember that Jeffords used GOP funds before giving control to Dems
Although Jeffords did offer to return contributions.

9. Probably not, because he wasn't the nominee yet.
Plus, you would have probably had to have given money to the DSCC.

6. It's the candidate's money once it's in his hands. He can do as he likes
As long as it doesn't violate campaign finance laws, morality has nothing to do with legality.

12. salazar's office told me it was legal. I told them I thought it was tacky
and sleazy, and that, as his friend, ken should talk joe into giving the money back. yah--I know THAT'S going to happen. Still, I tried.

13. as far as I know he can
When Ben Nighthorse Campbell switched from Dem to Rep here in CO, the state party tried to get him to reimburse the party for the money they'd spent on his campaign. Took him to court, even. Campbell won the case.
