Japan Gave US Liquid Explosives Detection System In January, But ...
the Department of Homeland Security only plans to test the system now.

Has there ever been a worse creation than DHS?

2. Any worse bureaucratic entity?
Well, the old Soviet agricultural directorate was pretty damned bad, but I think the Dept of Homeland Security is actually worse.

12. worse
is that the right-wing blogs are all praising Chertoff's leadership during the current crisis.

What did he do? Not get in the way of a British investigation? Decide after the arrests were made that now would be a good time to take a look at liquid explosives detection systems?

6. that's my suggestion
Japan hands us cutting edge technology, and we do nothing, even though the GAO, and the FBI in conjunction with the DHS, issue reports in 2005 saying that we don't know how to protect ourselves against liquid explosives?

Common sense says that if you have a deficiency, and someone provides you with a possible answer, then you move quickly to determine whether that technology solves your problem. You don't sit on your hands.

8. they will test it now
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 10:34 AM by JABBS
Why didn't they test it when they got it in January?

The GAO, and a joint report from DHS and the FBI, each noted last year that this was a deficiency. What possible excuse could DHS have for sitting on a possible answer to that deficiency for seven months? (See this thread for the appropriate link.)

Or would you rather have planes explode first, and then decide how to deal with the problem?

10. I just meant that they were sitting on it
so there could be a major announcement on how they are keeping us safe
around election time. There is no excuse for much of anything this
administration does.

Honestly, I wasn't trying to shoot you down. Sometimes I forget that I
am on the internets where people don't know how sarcastic I can be.

13. Posted this little gem on my local Repub board...
So far 50+ views, with 3 comments from my fellow "Leftist Bush Haters". I had expected
at the very least, a few of the morons to question the source.

Their silence is deafening. :headbang:
