2. Anyone who knows about the blog, I guess...
...there's an item on Huffington Post, linking to a news story on Yahoo / Reuters:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060813/wl_nm/iran_president_blog_dc

Iranian president lambasts US on new blog

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president has launched a Web log, using his first entry to recount his poor upbringing and ask visitors to the site if they think the United States and Israel want to start a new world war.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose speeches are riddled with anti-U.S. rhetoric, also described how he was angered by American meddling in Iran even when he was at elementary school.

Ahmadinejad swept to a surprise victory in last year's presidential race by promising the country's poor a fairer share of Iran's oil wealth and emphasizing his own humble origins that led many to vote for him as an "outsider" to Iran's ruling elite.

"During the era that ... living in a city was perfection, I was born in a poor family in a remote village," he wrote in a blog dated Friday, after opening with Islamic greetings.

His blog is ghost-written by Pat Buchanan. :)

Yeah, but the translation from German to Farsi tends to lose that anti-Semitic 'punch', ya know?

10. I don't think U.S. and Israeli intentions are necessarily identical.
The "end justifies the means" Neocons are arrogant enough to want World War III and ignorant enough to believe that they could win it. I'm not convinced that Israel shares those views. Their actions may result in worldwide war but the question does go to intent.

5. A world war? No. But that dolt is clearly wanting others to respond...
Their region has been mired in war for CENTURIES. As far as he's concerned, he's in a world war. His own little world. And he wants more people to come into it. And not in a good way!

That jerk needs to get his head out of his soft parts; it takes two to tango and guess who made that not-so-charming comment "...blow israel off the face of the map!"? It wasn't Bush! (Now Bush ain't perfect either, but there are enough mitigating factors that show who the bigger nut is and this time it's definitely not Bush! Last time re: Saddam, it was a travesty and a needless war on our part, but we're in there now... This time it's different. It's a totally different set of circumstances, a legitimate set, and the world leaders ARE concerned over Iran. Rightly so.)

Ahmadinejad has bringing a lot of this on himself with his insane posturing. And he knows it too. And it only makes Bush's case that much more legitimate; plenty of European countries aren't exactly disagreeing with the US either, that Iran is a threat.

And, yes, Israel was extreme in the response to the kidnappings... but then, when faced with threats of annihilation from a confirmed angry neighbor, you're bound to do a knee-jerk response or two.

I just wish more countries took the entire situation even-handedly; with no biased support one way or the other. But given the circumstances, Hezbollah and their supporters will never get any sympathy from me. They've brought all this on themselves. (with a little help from Israel, but as I've said, they're all a bunch of proverbial toddlers in the sandbox, inanely throwing sand in each others' faces for kicks. Both sides need to grow up.)

7. blow israel off the face of the map!" Maybe it's just politics!
Middle East style. Don't all leaders talk like that. Listen to Bush and his 'evildoers BS' I doubt if he really wants a war. He can't win for christs sake.

8. Are you guys watching his interview?
He doesn't sound nuts to me.

I don't agree with his assessment of the Holocaust (he says he only questions the numbers, not that it happened - whatever), but he doesn't sound anywhere near as nutty as our pResident and the neocons who rule him/us.
