3. I've been to Grenada twice since the invasion.
They find it hilarious that the US invaded them over their internal problem. Sort of a real-life "The Mouse That Roared".

5. It was also the 'wag the dog' to end all 'wag the dog.'
They did the planning on the fly. No service could talk to another. Grunts used a public telephone system to get through to US Navy ships at sea.

Yet, not one of our warm wonderful newspaper guadians of the public good said one thing about 'wag the dog.' That had to wait for Clinton to be president.

6. Exactly.
And, as I recall, they gave out more medals than there were soldiers who participated in that little fiasco. Sadly, it's been a few years since I have visited and have not seen that beautiful island since that hurricane hit it hard a couple years ago. Probably isn't the same place.

16. From what I saw on this show, they had to ask permission to fire back
even if fired upon.

And just being there like sitting ducks was a deterrent policy? WTF was Ronnie thinking?

That's insanity

19. And brother died there
If you where ever in Combat you know vets will not watch their family die. Veterans are family. That was the first time a bomber killed himself in the name of God. The Marines were there to help. Reagan should of never cut an ran like most replugs do.If we would of stood tall and stayed all this crap might not be going on. Bush has damaged us so much in the world it will take years to fix. The Mideast has been that way for 1000's of years. What makes anyone think it will change. Get the hell out of there. Maybe you should go talk or see one of the wounded with no legs or arms. If you think you can say anything good about war after that your a replug

10. I know it's weird but one of the things that
stands out in my mind is the picture (either Life or Time) of the Black soldier in his bright red undies in his bunk. He said later it was very embarrassing.

18. They were sitting ducks....
Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 07:08 PM by Catchawave
the barracks guards were ordered NOT to have rounds in their chambers, since they were a PEACEKEEPING force. By the time the young guard put a round in his chamber, it was too late

Funny, they left that little detail out.
