For Leftists ....
Next time someone calls you a leftist ... tell them, "Hell yeah, I am ... and that's what makes me good!"

Nothing wrong with it.

It's only if you try to make an argument that it turns it to anything but.

It's good to be a leftist. Whatever flavor you are - except the fascist kind (or if you're Bush, it would be called fatshits). Yes, leftists can be fascists too.

True progressive leftists, espousing true democratic ideals and governemnt of the (equal) people is good.

It's good people. Don't let them take that away from you. You still have something to fight for.

Who's with me?

2. Thank you ...
But it's time for us to understand ourselves before we can tell others about us.

3. Sure

Blair was smart enough to realize that the old labels weren't working. Yet he confused cause and effect and when he coined the "third way" he was basically surrendering to Thatcher, albeit with a wink and a nod to traditional progressive ideals.

I am adamant in thinking that in this post-Cold War world and after decades of attacks by the corporate-funded rw, it is time to reframe and, to a certain extent, rethink, progressive objectives and strategies. Our opponents have done so, repainting pre-New Deal laissez faire as a cure-all for the world's ills.

Yet I see no debate, no interest - in doing what many analysts have likewise recognized as a necessity.

Liberalism has many success stories to be proud of and a few failures. These should be analysed in order to improve and repackage.

What are some simple steps to get the message across?

Also, what would be the common theme among the various currents?

5. Fascists...
...tend to come from the 'right side' of the political spectrum...not the left.

But I'm indeed proud of the 'liberal' or 'progressive' labels. One aspect of being a liberal means being for the people and against corporations that harm them.

6. I agree to a point ..
Yet being a fascist is not exclusively right wing. That's where we should not make the same mistake again.

7. Off-Topic: I just LOOOOVE your sig picture.
Did you make it yourself?

On-Topic: I'm with you. I'm a proud liberal who doesn't mind taking the heat for it in this red state. I've done it before and they didn't kill me. They only made me stronger in my beliefs. America is...we the people...WE the people...

Yes, I made the picture using MS Word.

And I'm with you. I'm tired of letting rightwing blowhards frame the debate.

8. I usually just heartily say thank you
And if Clinton comes up in conversation I distance myself from him by saying that he was much too conservative for my liking. At that they usually back away slowly!
