I'd like to say something that I've been thinking about for the past few days: how do RWers know that Democrats are weak on terror?
Right now, that's pure speculation; all theoretical, because we haven't actually been in office since the War on Terror began. It's been all Republicans so far, and look where it's gotten us: three years in Iraq and no end in sight, wiretaps, the Patriot Act, no OBL, and plenty of RW rhetoric about how voting Democrat will cause a terrorist attack.
Someone might say, "but we can tell through Democrats' actions how they'd act if they were in power during the War on Terror". Nice try, but it doesn't sell the farm. It's real easy to plan for a disaster when you're in the safety of your own house. But when the actual disaster occurs, all of that careful planning usually goes out the window.
The fact is that the Republicans don't know how our party would act in power during the war on terror, because for the time being, we're untried; an untapped resource. That makes their rhetoric meaningless and discriminatory. They assume a lot about us because we're lib'ruls and because we disagree with them on political issues. For all they know, our party could be home to great leaders that take us through the War on Terror.
Maybe the Republicans should drop the rhetoric and actually lead us. That is why we supposedly elected them to office. Ringo
