they don't need to have bush campaign with them ... for many, that would be the bush kiss of death ... we've seen how that works already ...
but they can't escape their own records ... they voted for the war in Iraq ... they talk about a war on terrorism but can't demonstrate any progress beyond "we haven't been attacked" ... that's not progress ... the goal of Al Qaeda and other anti-US groups is to destroy the US, not attack it ... looks like they're doing pretty damned well to me ... the US has very, very few real friends left in the world ... we are more and more hated everyday ... it's a terrorist's dream come true ...
and could it be any clearer how in bed they are with the mega-lobbyists ... Americans might not be familiar with the K Street project or even what Abramoff or DeLay or Cunningham did but they know they've been sold down the river ...
and there is real fear in the country, not the bush manufactured kind, about the loss of US economic clout and the implications that holds for our jobs and our secure retirements ... people know republicans aren't on their side ...
it's all coming apart for them ... if the status quo holds, we'll get results similar to what the current polls are saying ... Dems will pick up a bunch of seats and could retake the House ... slightly longer odds on the Senate ... that's if the dam doesn't explode ...
but there are signs it is exploding ... if it does, the little numbers the polls report will change radically and quickly ... there are a whole lot of republicans running around like chickens sticking their little chicken fingers in a whole lotta holes in the dam ... leaks are springing up everywhere ...
here is a stunning new Associated Press-Ipsos poll:
More sobering for the GOP are the number of voters who backed Bush in 2004 who are ready to vote Democratic in the fall's congressional elections - 19 percent.
some people here seem to have a hard time with the math of vote switching ... if we got 19% more votes from brand new voters, we gain 19% ... but if we get 19% of those who voted republican the last time, we gain 38% ... we go up by 19% but, in addition, they go down by 19% ... that's a huge swing ...
any way you do the math, the republicans are in HUGE trouble ... it's all coming apart for them ... bwaa hah hah hah hah ...
