Lets Fly Naked and End the Reign of Terror for Political Gain
August 10th, 2006 @ 11:41 pm

Ever since the first time I flew across country after 9/11, Ive had a personal theory that in order to be safe and make sure that no one can smuggle anything on an airplane, we should all be flying naked.

My cross country travel experiences a few days ago, coupled with todays Red Terror Alert, make me think again there may be something to the idea perhaps in lieu of flying naked, we could just require that all passengers wear skin tight, government issue unitards.

Of course we all know that any effort to actually make Americans feel safer when they travel is anathema to the Bush administrations goal of fear-mongering and exploiting Americans for political gain. On a day trip to Wisconsin on Thursday, Bush said, It is a mistake to believe there is no threat to the United States of America. Weve taken a lot of measures to protect the American people. But obviously we still arent completely safe.

In the wake of this latest foiled terrorist plot, I think that Bush can set an example for Americans and prove that his terror alerts arent for political gain, by actually submitting himself to multiple searches before boarding Air Force 1 and he should suit up in the first spiffy government issue unitard. Its not that we dont want to be safe from terrorists, but Bush has played this game so many times, he really is seen as the boy who cried wolf.

1. I was on planes shortly after 911, and was weary of constantly getting
groped by security, so once I tried to avoid setting off the metal detector by making certain I had nothing necessary on my person, glasses, wallet, watch, etc., but a damnable stray dime in my back pocket that I'd somehow missed ruined my hopes for getting through just once without the hassle.

2. Never with out a hassle
I just flew to DC and back a few days ago - got groped both ways, just because the airline messed my ticket up and had to change it. How special is that.

My kid is in DC and due to fly back Saturday, I'm just a little ticked about this - she's never flown alone.

4. Well...
it's only a theory and one must find some humor in the madness of King George.

7. Great idea. Towelettes for the cavities? You know who would be required
to fly naked, now don't you? Dark skinned people, people with beards, anyone perceived as a Muslim, probably women, etc. If Republican Senators or House members were required to remove their reptilian shells when flying, I would never fly again. Or eat. Ever.

Yeah, fly naked after a cavity search and ship your luggage by FedEx!
Am I going to lose my hearing aids the next time I fly? They are powered by batteries.
Sorry, you are going to have to put your pace maker in your checked luggage.

11. So the staff at Hooters Air was overdressed?
Is that why it got closed down as a regular airline? Hmmm.

Mark.
