If Dems want to lock up Delay's old seat ..........
That's the seat that Delay has resigned from and can't get his name off the ballot. The Rethugs are running a mayor named Wallace as a right in candidate. I think he's David Wallace. If the Dems want to lock that seat up they should recruit someone named Wallace to also run as a.... Repug... write in candidate.

I'll bet they could even find a guy named Dennis Wallace or Doug Wallace. Spend about $50,000 on a "write in D. Wallace" campaign and I guarantee you'd get at least 10 to 30% of the other Wallace's vote.

Remember.... the Repug base consits heavily of TFM's.

Total Fuckin' Morons.

3. I don't see anything dishonest about that....
Anyone can do a Write-in campaign anytime they want. I really think it's unfair that Delay can'r get his name off the ballot. Seems to me one should be able to withdraw anytime. I can see there being a dead
line that doesn't allow someone to get on the ballot by not to be able to withdraw... don't see the reason.

So if a Dave, Don or Doug Wallace can be found that would run a little write in campaign.... hells bells, he might even win the seat. Remember.... it's Texas.... a state full of TFM's.

4. Delay can get his name off the ballot.
That's what he's doing in fact, by withdrawing from the race.

What can't happen is that the Republican fat cats are not allowed to hand-select his successor and have that person's name put on the ballot. Hence the need for a write-in candidate.

5. That's not correct. He can not remove his name from the ballot. (NT)

The relevant part:
". . . DeLay was free to withdraw his name from the ballot under state law. The problem was putting on a replacement."

6. The GOP is trying to settle on one writein candidate
The local GOP is trying to decide which on 7 or so candidates to support. Wallace is running but is not liked by the party. A houston city council woman is also planning to run as a writein. If we are lucky we may have two or three republicans all running as a writeins.

I am having fun watching the process. It is going to be difficult as is for a write in candidate to win with the e-voting machines (a voter has to spell out the writein name on the screen using a wheel controller).
