just got off the phone with salazar's reg.office here in the springs--ken
"won't let politics sway him, he is loyal to his friends, and does what he thinks is right, regardless of the political consequences."

The office staff has been taking calls all day, but admit that ken probably isn't going to change his mind.

wonder what it is going to take.

1. Why worry about that now....?
The best way to get them to see they are wrong is to get Lamont elected...! Perhaps we should make sure that is in the bag first!

2. A Dem who does what he thinks is right regardless of political consequence
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 02:51 PM by dolstein
Am I the only one who notices the irony? For years, the left-wing blogosphere has been railing against spineless Democrats who are so intimidated by polls and beltway political consultants that the typical voter no longer knows what they stand for.

Now here's Joe Lieberman, whose willing to say exactly what he stands for, political consequences be damned. And the left-wing Blogosphere rips him a new one and instead embraces a trust fund baby who made his name in business by downsizing a non-union cable company. Apparently, what the left-wing blogosphere really wants is more politicians who'll read from their left-wing script.

Well, it's good to see that Lieberman isn't the only Democrat with a little spine. Good job Salazar.

4. except in this case the entire primary system is at risk
how would you feel if every leftist (and rightist) loser of a primary just ran as an independent and was backed by sitting US senators? We would lose every election.

In order for primaries to mean something, people have to respect them.

Perhaps I should ask your opinion on Dems who voted for Ralph Nader?

5. I would be more inclined to agree with you if I hadn't spent a good part
of the last 18 months chiding ken for voting like a damned repuke on countless issues.

6. We're against spineless Democrats
Who don't stand up for Democratic ideals. There are already plenty of folks standing up for the fascist, imperialistic ideals of the corrupt Bush administration. We just don't need them on the Democratic side of the Senate.

Seems so bone simple anyone could get it, but I've overestimated people's intelligence before.

7. Lieberman's standing up for the ideals of Truman and JFK
Those who believe that Democratic Party was founded by George McGovern will never understand.

8. What ideals are those?
Torture is a viable instrument of foreign policy? The Geneva Conventions don't apply to the United States? The executive is entitled to unlimited power and authority if he can gin up a casus belli?

Ridiculous.

13. No, he's ass-kissing the repukes and SCOLDING OTHER DEMS
who disagree with him, instead of the WAR CRIMINAL REPUKES.

He is no longer a dem. He is some kind of "independent" or whatever his party is now called.

HE'S RUNNING AGAINST THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE - you know, the ones you guys were all set to whine that WE weren't going to support when YOU thought WE would lose!

He is no longer a "Democrat".

Suck it up - BIG TIME!

You just don't get it, do you!

18. No- we want to see some spine against BUSH- not spine against us.
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 05:44 PM by Dr Fate
You dont get it- when we say we want DEMS with Spine, we mean spine against the Far-right, not spine against us.

15. sure he would
this will help him in Colorado, not hurt him.

there's no one on the left who can win a primary here, much less a general election

Salazar will win for the same reason that Nighthorse Campbell won; as both a Democrat and a Republican. He'll grab enough votes from the middle to put him over the top - no matter what the party...

he holds all voters in contempt, even those in his district.

12. Those of us who supported Mike Miles predicted all this l-o-n-g
ago.

Now, here it is, staring us in the face.

So, I still wonder, will Salazar pull a Nighthorse???

Maybe his head has been buried too long in the sand of the Great Dunes?

"Off with his head"!

his gums like he has been and he will have no friends left in the Democratic Party.
