GOP Senate candidate backs Lieberman after Cantwell drops him

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Sen. Maria Cantwell has joined other Democratic colleagues in distancing themselves from Sen. Joe Lieberman. But her Republican challenger swiftly endorsed Democrat Lieberman as he launches an independent bid in Connecticut.

Lieberman, the Democrats' vice presidential nominee six years ago, lost his primary yesterday (Tuesday). Many of his fellow Democrats, including Cantwell, dropped him today (Wednesday) and endorsed winner Ned Lamont.

But Cantwell's likely Republican rival, Mike McGavick, endorsed Lieberman and said he's sending him a thousand dollars. McGavick noted that Lieberman's concession speech used a theme that he himself has adopted, civility.

(Going after the Jewish vote, no doubt...)

4. what a comedian!
McGavick noted that Lieberman's concession speech used a theme that he himself has adopted, civility.

If he thinks that is being civil, then he's even worse than I thought.

12. She's got my vote in the Primary
Unfortunately, I think Hong may have entered the race too late and/or have been overshadowed by the whole Mark Wilson fiasco to have a chance of defeating Corporatist Cantwell this time around :(

8. Washington State McGavick
His TV ad extolls Medicare Part D as a money saver to Seniors...well, this senior is PAYING MORE than before Medicare Part D...help? Not in my book...it maybe a help to someone of higher income but not me or mine. McGavick is either ignorant of what a lot of seniors are now suffering from Medicare Part D or he just doesn't give a damn. Leave it to a Republican to pull a switch and bait.
