Party Unity ... top down ... or bottom up?
You just ***know*** the new 'current thinking' (spin) is going to be a Democratic party in disarray. The 'anti-war left' against the 'moderates'. The 'blogosphere' against 'mainstream'.

And if we're not careful, that could become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

What's needed is a huge helping of good old party unity.

But maybe now's *exactly* the right time to turn the equation around. Yesterday a guy from nowhere came on like a bat out of hell and knocked off the former Number Two Guy in a primary.

The base - all the base - has the attention of the folks looking to be rehired come November.

Party Unity normally comes about when the little guys (us) rally around The Annointed One. Well, maybe ... just maybe ..... now is the time for Those Who Wish To Be Annointed to rally around the little guys (us).

No purges. That would be stupid - particularly now, when we really are ascendent. But man-o-man is it time to get the pressure going.

Its time for Party Unity to go the other way for a change.

From the Bottom Up.

the hierarchy is indeed corrupt in the Dem Party. The party needs to follow Howard Dean and work from the roots. Perhaps the top crust will dissolve away?

Party Unity comes from the bottom up in a democracy
But
Party Unity comes from the top down in a dictatorship
remember the Kremlin, where you could tell how powerful someone was by how close they
stood to Kruschev in the group photo. Oh, comrade Conde is next to Bush in this picture
and comrade Cheney is over by the fireplace.

7. The Dems need to take a page
from the Pukes playbook. Do the pukes run from their base? Heck no!! They pander to them.

Come on dems! Court your base! We're here! Give people a real choice and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

to a losing democrat and ignoring the Republican challenger, this is the first time that I
ever remember this, and I really think that in the past, the President has not engaged in
partisan announcements like this from the White House. Isn't he supposed to be the President,
the ceo of all americans.

9. I don't want to be pandered to .... I want genuine buy-in
Pandering has gotten the repubs in power, to be sure. But in pandering, they had no intent whatever to give their base what they want. The result is that we're seeing waaaaaaaaaaaay right wack jobs unseating their incumbents ... as in Michigan yesterday.

I'll take some honest change and honest dialog.
