SUV Humor (Pathetic)
I parked near a brand new 2007 Chevy Tahoe this morning. I asked the lady driving it how she liked it. She said the gas prices are killing her, they really didn't need it, she'd rather have her car back but her husband just had to have it. Ya can't make this shit up.

5. Hubby must have some "inadequacy" issues.
Viagra or Cialis would have been cheaper than that land barge.

6. Hubby is just that ashamed of his manhood...
Poor lady... on many levels.

Some people just don't have enough sense to be embarrassed about driving those gas hogs.

7. Offer your condolences
For her husband's teeny, tiny wee-wee.

The latest Hummer ad seems aimed at women now. Two women are at the playground with their kids. One kid cuts in front of the other, and the cuttee's mother says, "Hey, we were next." The cutter's mother gives the standard GOP retort, "Well, now we're next," and the tacit challenge, "What are you gonna do about it?"

The cuttee's mother swallows her indignation and goes out and buys a Hummer. It is presumably "her turn" and everyone else be damned as another "I got mine" Republican is born.

Thanks again, Donald Segretti and Lee Atwater.

9. What happens then?
After the mom buys the SUV - does she go back to the playground and run the other woman over? I don't get it.

13. As I recall
I've seen the ad only a couple of times, but after she gets the Hummer, the mom is seen driving with a little smirk on her face that says to me "It's my turn now" and the closing image is a white lettering on black background screen that says something like "Get In Touch With Your Inner Girl" and then the standard Hummer shot of the planet that's being destroyed by the product.

It seems to make all the sense of the Hummer "Captain Jack" commercial, where the kid wins the "first one to the bottom of the hill" contest by doing something I've never seen: He takes his Hummer off road.

11. Is that ad real?

Yes, typical "I got mine" selfishness. An example of someone morally backrupt.

18. We have several Hummers
in my town here, obviously unnecessary for any inconceivable use other than looking "cool" or so these deluded souls think. Two are driven by women (who look ridiculously tiny sitting at the wheel) and one is bright red. These folks really have ego, self-confidence or esteem problems. I know a kid whose father has one too. She said she couldn't figure out why people flip them off when they drive the stupid thing. Clueless...!

On the OP story, my class instructor at the gym said her husband insisted that she get this humongous dually truck which was really a pain for her to drive. She told him to hell with this, took the truck back and got the little Lexus she really wanted! If I were the lady in the OP story, I'd do the same and tell her husband to see a shrink about his self-esteem problem.

10. Had a laugh on them yesterday morning ...
I pulled into a gas station to fill up my Geo Metro. The cheapest gas price there was $3.03. The pump displayed the purchase of the previous driver: 30 gallons of gas - $94.00

12. my Vespa costs about $4 to fill up
which sure is nice. I don't drive it exclusively, but it definitely helps.

And the past couple of years, instead of "how fast does that go?" - the answer of which is 55mph, I get "what kind of milage do you get on that thing?" It feels great to tell them 70mpg. The newer ones are even more efficient and clean-running; some get close to 100mpg.

I've been seeing a lot more scooters on the road too, which is good, but I advise new riders to make sure they learn the bike well and how it handles before going into traffic, and to assume that drivers don't see them.

20. What I am really itching to get...
Is a diesel motorcycle. From what I understand there are a few models in the works now. Maybe they'll be out by the time I get a real job. 100+ mpg and the ability to run on biodiesel or convert it to run on waste vegetable oil? Sign me up!

22. yes! I have some scooter and motorcycle friends with whom
I've been discussing this, and other similar conversions. A couple of them have done veggie oil cars and love it. One drove his Jetta from Florida to Ohio on less than a tank of diesel and about a tank of grease.

14. Apparently there are some liberals out there...
who don't care about the environment, or at least some Democrats. A Hummer went driving by me the other day with a Kerry/Edwards sticker on the spare wheel cover.

17. Have you seen the Hummer commercial
They show these people eating vegetables, recycling, being Earth conscious and then they go get a Hummer and it says, "Restore Balance".

I was sick to my stomach when I saw it.

19. And I was thinking about getting one.
geez. No, but really, I have a camper trailer and although it's small and lightweight, my small car is having trouble with it and in order to preserve my regular vehicle I was thinking about getting a bigger one as a tow vehicle. Maybe a small PU, but you have to worry about your gear getting wet.

with just a 4 cyl engine, no trouble at all.

24. You'd think there'd be a market for an SUV that isn't such a Crime
against Earth and Humanity.

It's not like the engineering is impossible. It just hasn't been done, because people keep buying these pigs.

SUVs and trucks are one thing; Hummers are in a class all by themselves.

Hypothesis: Some people pierce everything on their body that can be pierced. Others buy Hummers. Same motive, different behaviors, one with MORE consequences to others.
