Why are the republicans so angry about lieberman's loss...
Why are they trying to pick our candidates? What do you think they would be sayin if we picked their candidate?

1. Because Lieberman is essentially one of them.
Supporting the war and Bush, Lieberman is about as close to a Republican as you can get - and they recognize that if he lost, they can too.

2. Because he was one of Chimpy's butt boys .
He kissed up to Chimpy (literally) and supported the war and the clamp down on personal freedom and privacy via homeland security.

4. Because they know this was a referendum on the war
that they all support and now they see that the public and the democratic base is energized and they see that Lieberman's loss means that an angry public will vote out the Republican majority.

Remember they get ANGRY when they are losing or in the wrong. They are essentially reactionary.

9. They threw support behind him, and this is a warning of things to come.
The Democrats were actually organized enough to toss a former VP nominee out on his ass for consorting with the opposition. The GOP sees all their policies crumbling, and those who supported those policies -- Democrats and Republicans alike -- are suddenly vulnerable.

The is a pivot point. Will the rest of the nation's Democrats respond in the same fashion as Connecticut? We can only hope.

5. If Lieberman wins, I expect him to change his party affiliation to
Republican. He loves George Bush, and now he can offer the excuse that the Dems deserted him, instead of the other way around. Spin, spin, spin.

6. They're not really angry
They're just trying to use this against us, by portraying it as a sign that the "radical left" has taken over the Democratic party.

Just typical Repub fear tactics. Nothing new.

14. Yeah. I know and they are afraid...
so they are throwing out their talking points to see what is going to stick and to watch some stupid dems who will follow the ball wherever they throw it.

7. Fear.
Fear of what it represents. It's not so much that Lieberman lost. It's that his opponent won.

10. easy answer

Its just typical Repuke opportunism...This is a chance to talk about how Stalin runs our party, bla bla bla ad nauseum.

Just a chance for them to break out the megaphones and act like idiots. Their contempt for the will of the people is quite a sight.

11. Because he made it appear their horrid policies are acceptable
"See, Joe Lieberman supports what we are doing and he's a LONG TIME DEMOCRAT. See, we can all get along. See, he's a moderate democrat and they aren't crazy like those LEFTY democrats. It's ok to go blow up shit for no reason...even some moderate democrats support that."

He helps legitimize the RW freakazoids BETTER than any republican could ever do.

watch them work like hell for the Republican in November. They wanted Lieberman defeated and their endorsements helped do it and they know it.

15. Real fear instead of their usual ersatz version
It's never pleasant to wet your pants, and the Republicans are angry about how fearful they feel. For once, the fear is traveling in their direction, and they don't like it very much.

21. The same thing will happen if Hillary doesn't get the nomination...
They really want to run against her. Conversely, wait 'til you see the Mardi Gras they throw if she DOES get the nomination... then, almost on the turn of a dime, it will get so dirty and slimy... just wait!

They are very invested in who we choose to elect and UNelect right now.

22. My Theory ...
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 08:21 PM by primative1
Its a three legged stool that keeps them in power. The GOP is only one leg, media control is another.
The third leg is the pliable Viche Dems they have been planted to make us face down the Nader quandry ( "not a dime of differnce" ).
When you remove their plants in our party, you offer people an actual choice on the ballot. This breeds enthusiasm and hope.
One leg has been kicked out from the stool.
The others wont hold them up.
They worry for good reason.

25. Agree.
I like your theory. The so called "moderate" dems are what has virtually destroyed the party. No difference between the parties doesn't encourage people to vote.

26. They lost their mole
I wonder just how much information old Joe fed to the GOPS during these last few years?
How much inside information has this fellow been feeding the enemy?
It is probably possible to project back into the last congress and see where the GOPS were fed something Joe might have fed them.
And how often has he counseled against resisting the enemy?
We're way better off without him.
