Lieberman Campaign Admits No Lamont Involvement in Alleged Hacking
Lieberman Campaign Admits No Lamont Involvement in Alleged Hacking
By Paul Kiel - August 8, 2006, 3:46 PM (TPM Muckraker)

Greg over at Election Central:

I just got off the phone with top Joe Lieberman adviser Dan Gerstein, and he acknowledged to me that the Lieberman camp doesn't have any evidence that the Lamont campaign -- or Lamont supporters -- are behind the hack attack on the Lieberman campaign web site.

Asked if the Lieberman campaign had any idea who might be behind the attacks, Gerstein said: "We don't."

Gerstein said earlier, "Their supporters are doing these , we've demanded they get them to stop and they refuse to do it."

Lamont's campaign earlier denied any involvement in the attack.

30. Exactly
This is classic Rove.

You do something to yourself, and blame it on the other side just as the election nears. Often the other side has no time to refute it, and has to defend itself. Rove has done it time and time again.

8. The head of Joe's campaign said the same thing to Tweety
today on MSNBC. He sure didn't intend to, but Tweety kept pressing him, and he finally said they have no idea who did what, or what happened!

For once, Tweety did a decent job! All the guy from the campaign kept saying is Ned's supporters have said all kind of things against Joe, andthey've been working against us for months! Tweety wouldn't let him off the hook thogh, and kept saying what proof do you have, do you have any proof, etc.

28. No he shouldn't. He may not represent Ct Dems, but he's still a modDem
He fights like hell and when an opportunity presented itself he tried to slap his opponent with it. I'd expect Lamont or any Democrat to do the same. Enough with the double standards and enough with the Democratic McCarthyism. We don't and we shouldn't run people out of our party just because they differ with us on some issues. Besides, Lieberman still has a shot at being reelected as an independent. We should run hard against him until November, but we do want him voting to organize with our side in case it comes down to a 49-50 senate without him.

10. It seems like the Lieberman camp will use this as an excuse
if they lose and especially if it is close. This is something that bothers me in this country about elections, especially vital and close elections: is the electorate so mentally retarded or simply lazy that they can't get off their asses and go and vote on election day? Why on earth should there be such a vital get out the vote push if the election is important? Democracy is run by those who chose to participate. Those who chose not to vote cannot complain that they do not deserve the government they get.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Officials with U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman's re-election campaign say that "dirty politics" and "Rovian tactics" are to blame for what they call an online attack on their campaign Web site as Connecticut voters headed to the polls Tuesday.

Someone's got some 'splainin to do...

16. talking out of both sides of their mouth
Sean Smith, the campaign manager for Lieberman, was on Hardball early edition around 1:00 PMEST saying that it was criminal behavior and Lamont had better come out against it. He never says the campaign but he does say that it's Lamont supporters and Lieberman haters.

26. Does This Rule Out A Hack?
Could a third party be involved, say a Republican site attacking the server causing an overload that crashed Lieberman's site. I can't blame Lieberman for suspecting dirty tricks with the first suspect being Lamont but how about third party involvement interested in just that specific turn of events. This is a question, not an accusation.

27. just have to wait until the
investigation is done. Lamont did the right thing by denouncing any person(s) who may have done this. It could be anyone around the world so accusing Lamont supporters was probably not wise. Though there have been some pretty ridiculous posts on Lieberman on the net, that I concede.
