I think this "hacking" stunt is a desperate ploy by Joe
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 03:13 PM by ChavezSpeakstheTruth
How can Joe make this accusation without having any proof. His side could have hacked it to point blame at Lamont. There anre any number of possible reasons why the site is dead.

I smell a rat.

1. It's the equivalent of
peeing your pants in public....
in fact it IS peeing your pants in public.

Joe's going down without one ounce of grace.
Sore loserman indeed.

2. If this is a political ploy (which I think it is) its a stupid one
Too late Joe. Methinks he may use it to prolong counting the votes or some other tomfoolery.

29. Let's try this again
I'm not bothering past the first link ... it contained no quotes from Lieberman accusing Lamont.

and his campaign suspects "political opponents". So do I.

""This type of dirty politics has been a staple of the Lamont campaign from the beginning, from the nonstop personal attacks to the intimidation tactics and offensive displays to these coordinated efforts to disable our Web site,"

I, too, construe this accusations as coming from Lieberman. Is it true that I can't read either?

15. There neednt be a quote from Lieberman.
On issues that pertain to his campaign, his managers speak for him. Anything they say can fairly be construed as his words unless he specifically rebukes them.

and just reeks of Rovian political tactics.

KOS explains it quite well: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/8/8/153827/3493

So the Lieberman campaign with their millions of dollars are too cheap to pay more than $15 a month for hosting? And then their low trafficked site goes down the day before a primary when they were probably getting TONS of hits, and what do they do? They avoid their own total incompetence and set out to blame the other side, accusing THEM of dirty tricks.

The Lamont campaign is the grown up here. They've offered to send over someone to help get the Lieberman site up and running AND are offering a Google cache version of the joe2006.com site on the LAMONT BLOG!

Think Lieberman would do the same? That's right, I don't either.

it could have been hacked by
ANYONE IN THE WORLD

Lamont is the one who is suffering from "scurrilous" charges. You could ask some questions about why the Lieberman camp would put this out .

23. I doubt it's a ploy
The complete and utter bewilderment I see by owners whenever a site goes down, even for a little while is consistent with all this loopiness. Joe's staff probably doesn't really get the internets. Whoever was in charge of his site probably didn't even know how to look around to get a reliable webhost who provides things like redundancy and load balance. And lots and lots of servers. If they had that, a spike in bandwidth would show up on their bill, but it wouldn't crash the site.

Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 09:08 AM by Dinger
The book/movie "Bu$h's Brain" gives numerous examples of KKK's tactics, which resemble this incident a lot. I can think of one example - when rove bugged his own campaign office right before an election in Texas.
Sorry, I can't remember if it was gubernatorial, senatorial, or something else.
