Another good slam at the LIEberman hack lie!!
"Gerstein gave me Geary's phone number to confirm the email's accuracy -- he's in Nevada, so we'll try him later this morning when his office opens. For those who did not go through a computer hacking phase when they were 12 years old: a "denial of service attack" is when a hacker directs so much traffic at a single web site, the server is overloaded and no one can access the site.?"

1. You don't know it's a lie yet
and no one is claiming this is a DOS.

3. We know it wasn't a denial of service attack.

That was obvious from the git-go. But the site's behavior isn't inconsistent with the site's being hacked.

I think the site's behavior is consistent with some other propositions made. I've seen sites that were suspended for overusing bandwidth, for non-payment, etc. Never did they tell the guy browsing the page to pay up or contact somebody about non-payment of bills. That's reserved for the people that get the bills. Typically once the bill's paid, the site's there. Untouched. In this case, it's gone from non-payment to having a message to being under construction. Simple suspension of the account doesn't account for it, unless the hosting company is absurdly juvenile.

If you need to define the term for us, perhaps you also need to define it for the person who misused it otherwise?
