“If all the real Democrats come out and vote in tomorrow’s elections, you are going to make me Connecticut’s comeback kid.”

“They are anxious to say the left wing is taking over, the antisecurity wing,” Mr. Lieberman said of Republicans.

Very pleased to see this item later in the article:

The Lamont campaign also set in motion its first automated phone call, an appeal from Paul Newman, the actor and an advocate for liberal causes, who lives in Connecticut. They also taped a new radio advertisement featuring African-American ministers that they planned as a countermeasure to an ad that Mr. Lieberman has been playing on stations that have a predominantly black audience.

1. So what kind of DEMS does that make the rest of us?
Real DEMS don't let friends vote for Joe Lieberman.

13. Well, I know what kind of Democrat Lieberman is: A Vichy Democrat.
Surrender to the Bush Administration, try to conform to GOP political slant and alienate half of Connecticut Democrats by calling them fake.

14. Joe reminds me of my old landlord
Mr H was a Aschwitz survivor and a conservative Jew.

There were other elderly people in the building who had also survived the camps and it turned out one of the women had known him, when they both at Aschwitz. Supposedly, the guy was a real schmuck. He would make friends with the SS and tattle on other Jews to protect himself and gain favors. Nice guy, not. I would expect Lieberman would be like Mr. H under similiar circumstances.

...while he's running in the Democratic Primary this year.

Lieberman should be careful about the "real" Democrat question.

4. Actually this Liberal is very PRO-security but to me that means not going
out of our way to piss in the surrounding neighbors wheaties but to take care of our own backyard without stomping all over the Constitution in the effort to have an illusion of security.

Sometimes I think a lot of our so called "leaders" need to take a major "time out" until they can learn to play well with others. ;)

"switched" registrations in CT since last week. They said 100 times more switched registrations than ever before. I think that the Republicans are switching registration to Democratic in order to steal this election for Blowjoe...

Could there be any better proof that Joe is more Republican than Democrat than that?

19. So all of the Pubs who switched this past week won't be able to
vote in today's primary? That's great! They wasted their time and effort for nothing! I wonder why NPR didn't mention the time requirement in their report? All they said was that the number of switched registrations were for Pubs wanting to vote for Lieberman...hmmm.

23. Courant today on Voter Rolls: "Democratic Rolls Swell for Primaries"
Democratic Rolls Swell For Primaries
Nearly 29,000 Register With Party Since May; High Turnout Expected

August 8, 2006
By FULVIO CATIVO, Courant Staff Writer

The ranks of registered Democrats swelled by nearly 29,000 newly affiliated voters between May and Monday, in what election officials are calling an "unprecedented" show of interest in today's primary elections.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz predicted a 35 to 40 percent turnout among voters today, citing high interest and historical turnout results based on other competitive races.

<>Including the latest figures, there were 14,506 unaffiliated voters who changed their affiliation to the Democratic party. In addition, 14,380 new voters registered as Democrats, bringing the total number of newly registered Democrats to 28,886.

About 521 unaffiliated voters switched to vote as Republicans and 3,878 newly registered voters registered as Republicans for a total of 4,399.

6. real Democrats of course include those new converts from the GOP
Although I do not know if there were all that many, there was a re-register as a Dem story a while back.

In any case it will not be before the Wed. morning shows that we know the result.

26. NBC's First Read says results should be known by midnight, with big
"Kerry cities" starting to come in after 10PM.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/3626796/

Election officials in Connecticut can begin tallying precinct results from around the state as soon as polls close at 8:00 pm. According to a Dan Tapper, spokesperson for Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, the first cities to submit their results tend to be smaller towns such as Litchfield and Somers, which Bush won in 2004, and Kent, which supported Kerry. Toward the end of the night, a little after 10:00 pm, Tapper says, results from the state's largest cities like Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury and Stamford should begin to trickle in -- all towns that overwhelmingly voted for Kerry in 2004. While it's hard to predict what time they'll have the official results, Tapper says he hopes to have an answer just before midnight. Until then, they'll be updating results on their website.

15. So, Joe, explain how that boondoggle called Dept. Homeland Security
is making us more secure? You've given this administration a total free pass on security. You've cheerleader an immoral and illegal war that has done zippo to enhance our economic security and our international interests are poorly served by this administration and losers like you who trade our righteous opposition for a seat by the table.
