President Bush- Up to his eyeballs in charisma.
Whenever I see a White House reporter speaking from the Crawford Ranch, I can hardly take my eyes off that tractor or the hay bales. Country. Uncomplicated. Down home. Regular. A refreshing change from the hubbub of everyday American life. It`s almost as though some MSNBC producer said, "Give me a Norman Rockwell shot." Get down and folksy with The Main Man. Turn your red bandana so the knot faces West. It warms my heart so to know our president is....well....just like us.

President Bush has an uncanny ability to put people at ease, smooth over their troubles and make things right again. Remember the recent G-8 summit? There he was, relaxed and comfotable, just as any man might be sitting on a bar stool next to his best friend chomping down a handful of tortilla chips. I could imagine him humming Make the World Go Away and calling on that charming grin which says...Don`t worry, be happy.

Early on Bush learned the value of the My Pet Goat approach. Whether it was the Twin Towers in flames, people drowning during Hurricane Katrina or bridges being bombed in Lebanon, President Bush kept his cool. Took a different route. Marched to a different drummer. Did he arrive in Baghdad with a forehead full of frowns and concern? No. He brought a turkey and yukked it up with the guys. Now that`s real bravery, when you can remain calm as others are being blown up. Never let `em see you sweat. Remember his National Guard stint? The guy was just plain unruffled. He knew he could work on a political campaign and fight a war at the same time. He has been so clear all along. Life IS just a bowl of cherries and I thank him for reminding us about that.

There is a magnetism there, something that draws real Americans to this man`s side. I`ll never forget how Mr. Bush responded to a reporter`s question about terrorism. Did he allow the liberal media to detour around all the good news? No. He grabbed his golf club and said, "Now watch this drive." That is is real leader.

2. And don't forget....
He is such a regular guy, he calls the Secretary of State of the United States of America "Condi" and gives people cute nicknames, like "Turd Blossom." Not to mention giving surprise neck massages to foreign heads of state, and using the same words we all use in conversation with other heads of state, like, well......"shit," when he was talking to the Prime Minister of Great Britain. It is truly amazing, isn't it, to have a regular guy in the White House, a good ole boy? How did we get so lucky?:sarcasm:

3. Funny.
When I saw the tractor I wondered how much John Deere had contributed to the RNC.

4. Is that what it is!
Charisma. I suppose one man's charisma is another man's shit. Because that is what I believe he is up to his eyeballs in. His chickens are all coming home to roost.

8. Indeed.
The sky is BLACK with chickens coming home to roost.

And Bush has about as much charisma as a greasy white turd with black hair. The man is "this-close" to completely losing his mind, and the only support he has left is from insane people who think like he does.

6. I almost jumped up and emailed MSNBC
If you missed that shot, folks, you have got to see it. The tractor, all shiny and new, the hay bales--I think they were rectangular, too, and I always see cylindrical ones around here (Austin)--, and the corner of the barn. I can just see the producer's wheels churning, "Should the reporter hold the pitchfork, or just put it in the background. No, they can back into it at the end, that would be funny. Wait, not comedy. OK, executive decision-no pitchfork."

Not since Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney "put on a show" in the barn has there been such an idyllic representation of farm life. Well, wait a sec, I am forgetting the sets of Hee Haw and Green Acres.

It's not that easy to offend me, but the staging of the news, parroting the staging of the otherwise lackluster leadership of the loser in chief, really pisses me off. If the news has to go to that length to set up a background for reporting, they are not reporting, they are performing.

Now I'm feeling redundant, as if I and a hundred other bloggers have said the same thing, and repeatedly.

9. Is this a NEW shot at the "ranch"?
If not I believe that that is actually not his land or property (if memory serves) the old barn (about to fall apart which is apt) and the yellow tractor attachment etc. are on someone else's property.

More of the make believe world that the press allows W.

12. Seeing those haybales ...
... and tractors behind (usually) Suzanne Malveaux, makes me wait in breathless anticipation for singers and dancers entering stage right bellowing out "Oklahoma".
