Poll: McKinney trails Johnson 52-39
Web Editor: Michael King
Last Modified: 8/4/2006 8:19:53 PM

According to new poll numbers just released by InsiderAdvantage, U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney continues to trail challenger Hank Johnson by a double-digit margin as the runoff campaign for the Democratic nomination for McKinney’s 4th District seat enters it’s final weekend.

In the survey of 300 likely voters, conducted on Thursday evening, Johnson received 52 percent, while McKinney had 39 percent. Nine percent of likely voters remain undecided.

InsiderAdvantage CEO and syndicated columnist Matt Towery points to a narrowing of undecided voters pushing the total above 50 percent for Johnson.

“The race continues to move to a narrowing number of undecided voters. The voter interest, based on the respondents likelihood of voting remains very high. If this race were held just among the most hardcore Democrats, it would be a closer battle, with the two statistically dead even,” Towery said. “The single most important figures in the cumulative numbers is the fact that white support for Johnson is at 87 percent, and overall black support for McKinney is at 50 percent. For Johnson to lose, his portion of the black vote would have to not turn out.”

I didn't see this poll posted before, if it was I apologize.

1. Good riddance to the antiSemitic loony
She was the Republicans' favorite Democrat....

"We should send somebody over to thank her," Rep. David Dreier (R-Calif.) said as he left the room."

3. She's an embarassment to the human race
From slapping a cop to calling Al Gore a racist, she's been a disgrace.

5. So say the majority of folks in her district
It's good to see, though, that the McKinney whoopsters are still so zombified they're denying the dreary loony did what she admitted to doing and apologized for.

7. Whatever
The Republicans are the ones working to defeat her, because they don't like her opinions. She was cleared by a grand jury of that alleged incident.

But it's always fun to see the fantasies of the clueless....

P.S.: Not being indicted is not even remotely close to being "cleared."

10. People don't like her opinions
Apparently some here on DU dislike as much as Republicans do for the same reasons. Who cares what Republicans think? They attack all Democrats no matter what they do?

14. Yes
The Republicans do attack all Democrats no matter what they do. But that is not an excuse to make it easy. Why provide campaign material that has a ring of truth to the independent voter's ear...

12. Hmmm geee...
sounds like good 'ole Joe.

Now, you can guess why I dislike both her and Lieberman. I never found them particularly useful or effective as Dems. They both have huge egos and attack anyone that doesn't confirm to their beliefs.

I hope they both lose tomorrow.

She has every right to do so, with the Republicans trying to oust her. People need to beware of the Johnson, he's not the type of Democrat we need in Congress.

9. I forgot
whether or not GA has open primaries, but if I remember correctly they do.

Personally I do not like McKinney very much (and would not vote for her), but I would prefer republicans not voting in a Dem primary.

13. McKinney threatening to go Indie if she loses...
An editorial written by her father...you know...the one that said the J-E-W-S were responsible for her defeat last time

http://www.atlantaprogressivenews.com/views/0014-views.html

Course this isn't the first time she has threatened this course of action...

Obviously he feels she is going to lose but why compound it by pissing off Democratic loyalists by threatening an indy run?
