The withered pundits of the Old Media
keep saying that Lamont is a product of the far left bloggers. People like Cokie Roberts and George Will make this assertion over and over and just make themselves look idiotic and out of touch. For one thing, it's illogical. Why would anyone pay attention to the "lunatic left netroots" if it was so small and marginal? The answer is, it's not small and NOT marginal. The base of people who use the net for information gathering is large and broad and getting larger and broader every day. The Cokies and the George Wills of the world are becoming as quaint as mimeograph machines.

This is also insulting to the people of Connecticut since it implies that they somehow are the zombie tools of the internet. I think they can all judge for themselves if Joe Lieberman has represented them the way they choose to be represented whether they read print media or TV or use the internet. Cokie and George just hate to think of the peasants storming the castle gates. It's all just so, so . . . unseemly.

1. They did the same with Dean in 2003 - none of them knew his record as
governor was that of centrist for 11 years. Instead, they fed into the storyline that Dean was a far left radical - amazing how that fueled his support to some degree by those on the left who believed it, and eventually killed it as moderate voters came to believe the storyline, as well.

2. Are we all a little smarter this time around?
I think we know Dean's candidacy was killed by the media frenzy of the "scream" and we are all the poorer because of it. Will we fall for another Swiftboating?

3. Cokie Worse Than Will
lately.

The woman with 7 names knows she & her old friends a dying breed, she & the others are doing their best to bash the bloggers in hopes people will come back and listen to their bullshit.

Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Boggs Roberts - RIP

6. Cokie is about as connected as you can get
Also, I am not just speaking about Cokie and George pushing this "liberal bloggers " support Lamont meme - it's all over the place.
You'll hear it on pretty much any political talk show.

The point people should take from all this is that the internet HAS changed some things. It makes it a lot easier to get a candidates message out quicker, faster, smarter, easier and cheaper. It also is a great big memory repository that makes ALL politicians more accountable , because there is an easily accessible public data base to check votes, quotes, etc. (for now anyway, until they figure out how to take it away from us)

The Old Media types are just furious at seeing their personal power eroded. Their are people on this board who write better, more well reasoned pieces than George Will and I bet that just fries his ass.

7. Whenever I want to enjoy the Quintessence of the Utterly Obvious . . .
I just wait for Cokie's breathless "political analysis" on NPR on Monday morning. It's particularly good for listeners who may have left their brain in the shower stall before getting into the car for the morning commute.

8. Cokie was the only thing that stood between Condi winning
the title of "The Person Most Out of Touch With Reality on the Sunday Talk Shows Today". This is an amazingly prestigious award considering that Newt was on Faux.

4. Connecticut is among the best educated and most affluent states
So, naturally, it's full of easily manipulated dimbulbs......

These withered up old goat scrotums of the MSM are just pissed off that THEY don't seem to be doing the manipulating. It's the difference between the entirely passive activity of Television (or traditional education for that matter) and the newer paradigm of interactive learning........and the poobahs of the passive don't appreciate being threatened........

9. That's the part that gets me
Connecticut voters probably are the least vulnerable to manipulation of any. They are no doubt among the best informed, too. If they decide they don't want Lieberman they're deciding on their own.
