Class warfare in the so-called liberal media...Chicago area Daily Herald
Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 12:00 PM by stevebreeze
The head line on my paper(page 2 of Saturdays business section) "Stocks lower despite good economic data"
What is the "good economic data" simple "Wall street got what it wanted Friday-Labor Department dad showing slower job growth-but caution investors pushed stocks modestly lower, unwilling to trust that the report was enough to keep the Federal Reserve from raising interest rates next week."

This headline was on an associated Press story that ran in many papers. This is however the headline that is most truthful about right wing conservative leaders true intent. It is about preserving the power of the powerful and maintaining control over the rest of us. These people don't love free markets they love fixed markets. the are only trying to conserve their power over us.
We liberals are not causing class warfare we are responding to class warfare. It is well beyond time we called it for what it is.

FACTS; the average hourly income adjusted for inflation today is lower then it was 5 years ago, it is lower then it was 26 years ago, if the GOP remains in power it will be lower tomorrow.

Productivity is is way up. We workers produce 1 1/2 times as much product today as we did in the same time 26 years ago, yet our pay has remained stagnant or fallen.

Family wages have increase marginally but mostly because we are working more hours and more people in a family typical work. There are many more two income families today then 26 years ago.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, it is easy to bash the rich but it would be dangerous to offer me the position. It is not that I hate the rich it is that this whole conservative position of protecting the wealthy at everyone else's expense make our whole economy weaker. We need to stand up and point out how this crap is bad for working people and in the long run it is bad for the wealthy. Please name me a banana republic that has risen out of poverty by protecting the wealthy? The US rose out of poverty and formed a middle class in the 50's because of the groundwork laid by the Roosevelt administration in the 30's stronger unions higher minimum wages more regulation on natural monopolies. These are the areas we need to change to make America prosperous for all of us again.
