6. Letter in THE NATION regarding this smear
Jerry Martin
President
American Council of Trustees and Alumni
1726 M Street NW, Suite 800
Washington, DC 20036-4525

Dear Jerry:

I am writing in regards to the Council's recent report, Defending Civilization: How Our Universities Are Failing America and What Can Be Done About It.

In the past, the Council has often sent me advanced copies of its publications before they have been released and asked for my support. In this case, though, I was never given the opportunity to review the Defending Civilization report before it was made public. I first learned of it through a call to my office from a reporter in Connecticut about a controversy the report had stirred at Wesleyan University.

If I had been given an advanced copy, I would have objected to its content and methodology and asked you either to revise it or make clear that I had no involvement with it. But because that did not happen, and because I have been incorrectly listed on your website as a co-founder of the Council, a number of news accounts and commentaries have associated me with the report and incorrectly asserted or implied that I endorse it.

This letter is meant to set the record straight about my disapproval of this report, which I consider unfair and inconsistent for an organization devoted to promoting academic freedom. To avoid any future confusion, I would ask you to remove any reference to me as a "co-founder" of ACTA from your website or other Council documents. And I would ask that you note in any future public statements that I do not support this specific report. Thank you.

10. "Dear" Jerry?
If this was a bona fide outrage, rather than a belated CYA attempt, it would have been Lieberman's lawyer threatening a lawsuit. That's the American way!

2. Liberman ,one bad choice Gore made !
When ex Vice Predident Gore chose Liberman as his running mate ,Liberman seemed to be the hero of the moment ,the perfect choice for Gore according to everyone .I myself knew absoluty nothing about Liberman ,and he seem like a nice enough fellow him and his wife ,who seemed to be getting even more attension then her husband ! Once Liberman and Chenney had the love fest debate ,that is when I started getting negative vibes about Liberman ,I think I now understand Gores misguided reason for picking him ,he may have figured it would make those on the fence fall Gores way .Well thats a lesson I hope Gore has learned ,if you notice liberman and Gore dont seem the best of buddies at this time ,Liberman ,who is actually about as republician as you can be while pretending to be a Dem. The thing is even with this poor choice of VP's Gore won the election ,as we all know it was stolen out from under him .I did ot see Gores "bestman" Liberman out with a red face of maddness over what the repugs had done or where in the process of doing to the man that made his name a household word( now thats a good friend watchig your back ) .That alone shows what a back stabber he is and a spy in the Dem party. Those who claim Liberman has any chance at being the Dem choice for the next election for President are in the same catagorey as those who still believe Bush is born again ! I hope he loses his current bid for re-election and is replaced by a real Dem. I think this gives you a idea of how I feel ,and how most of my fellow Dems feel about this fake Dem Liberman ,please fade away quickly Mr. Liberman ,and stop dreaming ,you will never be our President !
Sincerely Nick

9. Couldn't have put it any better myself!
He was the sole reason why I was never that warm, along with probably a lot of other Independents on the fence in 2000, on Gore-Lieberman. My bad vibes started to pick up when I heard he was on the board of the Parents Television Council. How does one list JFK as an influence and yet still call a disgusting little rat like L.Brent Bozell your boss? A question I'm still scratching my head over to this day.

The man is the archetype for the hypocritical DINO, if there ever was one. Ugh!

7. no
Interesting how Lieberman sent them a letter telling them he disagreed with the report and to stop listing him as a co-founder when he wasn't

Explain that one.

He's a DINO turncoat sell-out, par excellence. :puke:

5. Not true
Here's the letter he sent to ACTA (It was in THE NATION which is hardly a Lieberman-supporting publication).
