Today, a letter to my deceased Father was forwarded to me from his address down the block. It was from our congressman, who last election cycle finally changed parties, which he should have done eons ago. It was a letter about Veteran's issues, and my Dad was a vet. The part that really pissed me off, besides the insensitivity of not knowing when a VETERAN within his constituency has passed away, was leaving his name on his mailing list and then stamping the envelope with the message you will see below.
Dear Congressman Hall,
You recently sent me a letter, with a rubber stamp on the envelope that says, "THIS MAILING WAS PREPARED, PUBLISHED, AND MAILED AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE", about "Veteran's issues".
There were a couple of comments that I thought really needed to be made.
1) Mailing a THREE page letter to ME at taxpayer expense, seems to be a very big waste of taxpayer money. Now with the wasteful spending that you continue to vote for in taxcuts for your rich friends, the president's occupation of Iraq, etc. I am not really all that shocked that you wasted money sending me this THREE PAGE LETTER.
2) Even when you were a Democrat, I never really trusted your judgement, but now you are really setting new standards of incompetency for yourself.
3) You are right that I USED to have a big interest in Veteran's issues, but that has changed somewhat....SINCE I DIED BACK IN 1989!!!!
Now, I don't worry about those things much, but I SURELY am in a position to see EXACTLY what you are all about, and there is nothing that I would like better than to be able to tell the world EXACTLY what you are all about....but lucky for you....deceased folks can't type emails.

(by the way, I tried to "google" a picture of my republican congressman from Texas with our president "from" Texas.....NOTHING....what influence he must have on the hill!)
