Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep ...
If I should die before I wake
I pray that God my soul will take
And hope He has some time to spare
For dying children everywhere

If I should perish in my bed
With stone and rubble round my head
I pray that someone finds me here
And holds me one last time so near

If I should die in sweet mid-dream
Of the peaceful world that could have been
I pray that someone questions why
A child like me should have to die

If I should close my eyes in sleep
Too deep to hear my parents weep
I pray they mourn my loss with prayer
And not with vengeance nor despair

If I should pass from earthly space
I pray that someone takes my place
And does the good I would have done
Had I not been ended before I’d begun

While we argue amongst ourselves about who is right and who is wrong, children in the Middle East, as well as around the world, are dying.

If the children are our future, our future is close to being lost.

There are many issues to be debated; the survival of the world’s children should never be one of them.

3. They say we come from the Water
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 01:13 AM by TomInTib
They say we come from the water
To run thru the trees

They say that all Men are Brothers
But they're as different as the Seasons

You can pin wings to my shoulders
And pretend that I could fly...
and if your wings are strong enough for two..
I think I will fly with you a while

6. The children should be our focus
rather than who's right or who's wrong.

Beautiful poem. Where else are you publishing it????!! Please tell me you are submitting it somewhere besides just here. It needs to be seen by as many as possible IMO.
