The 'netroots as loonies' meme continues .......
(THIS IS NOT A 9/11 THREAD SO DO NOT POST ABOUT IT HERE. STAY ON **MY** TOPIC OR START YOUR OWN THREAD.)

On the radio - DC's allnewz WTOP - this afternoon they reported on some new national poll about 9/11. It seems this poll (didn't hear who ran it) found that many people believe some form or other of MIHOP or LIHOP.

The report's closing line felt like a bitch slap. "The poll found that those who have low incomes, low education, are minorities, get their news from the internet, or self-identify as Democrats were more likely to think the events of 9/11 were a conspiracy."

Can I get a hearty round of 'Fuck You" here?

Seriously .... as I have been saying for a few weeks now, there is a concerted if subtle effort for 'some people' to paint anything done by Dems on the internet as crazy.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

1. People who notice
That reality does not match what they read/see in the "MSM".

2. I thought that the "intellectuals" were the Dems ...
and that was an "insult" ...

I thought the Republicans were the ones reveling in their ignorance ...

3. Can I disagree about the fact that it's meant as a slur?
What if you turn it around - those who get their news on the net are more likely to be better informed about the situation, and therefore able to make a better judgment about whether it might be MIHOP/LIHOP than those who only watch TV or read newspapers?

More sources.
More angles.
More analysis.
More information.

Yeah, you have to weed through a lot of crap, but the internet gives you all of the above. So, it doesn't surprise me that those who get their news online are more likely to be M/L supporters.

But I agree, it still comes across poorly. :(

4. I don't disagree with your analysis ......
.... yes, internet newsers are generally better informed that teevee newsers.

The point, which I think you acknowledged, is that the way they report on it is what's skewed, not the underlying facts. They seem to be VERY CAREFULLY and very craftily wording the stories to get the message across. Just like Bush with the link between Iraq and 9/11. It is pretty much true that, if one parses his words, he (almost?) never made the direct accusation. But the wording and sentence structures used were very much crafted to give that impression. His handlers were VERY crafty about that. And they're being similarly crafty with this new meme.

5. There's another example of perception management to detract
dismiss and ridicule the growing demand for truth. The Internet is a battleground (always has been).

Most of the links still work in this archived thread from January of this year. This is reason enough to not believe a single word from any "official" from anywhere.

7. Thanks for that link
I was aware of much of that but must have missed that thread ... everything all in one place.

Thanks for agreeing with me and letting me know I'm not alone in seeing things this way.

6. It's crappy phrasing, but I take it differently.
the first three groups have always had good reason to mistrust The Republicans, in fact, I find it refreshing to see low education in there - I thought that was a group we were losing. Get their news from the Internet is a huge and growing group since I think almost a majority realize that they are just slung BS by the MSM, and in fact the Internet often leads on breaking stories or stories of more complexity -so that part is good too. Self-identify as Democrats is also a huge group and we KNOW that within this group there are high and middle incomes, and high education groups to round out the profiles.

So, the ONLY people who do NOT believe that there is something fishy about 911 is the True Republican believers who get their news from the MSM.

"netroots as loonies" is a completely loser/loosing Luddite meme.

They must be getting VERY nervous.

8. Not arguing your logic or points, but .....
.... do you see what I'm saying I see? A coordinated effort to paint the internet user, or even perons who get their news from the internet, as loons?

9. I completely get your point and I see that effort
but I have to laugh my ass off. It is so counterproductive to them, not to mention how it puts them on the outside of the younger generation which does EVERYTHING on the internet. If they keep it up they will soon marginalize themselves to a few ham radio user survivalists in isolated mountain camps. In fact, ixnay on urtherfay isscussionday!

12. It came to me in a blinding flash as I was watching Hardball and saw
John Fund doing what your OP here is all about. My epiphany is also about my answer to you about how off-base I think they are. This could also answer the interminable discussion that we all enter into constantly about "oh please don't call it the MSM" and then we all try to come up with the catchiest acronym. No catchy acronyms needed - it's much simpler than that. They are the OLD MEDIA. And right now the OLD MEDIA is lagging the new in energy and information transference. When they whine about the "netroots" they sound like people in buggies agreeing with one another that the automobile will never catch on. Let's hear it for the New Media!

10. My head just exploded...
...waitaminnit here!!

Aren't the evil Liebrul Democraps the rich elitists who ignore the opinions and feelings of the 'just folks' GOPpie base of low-income, low education peeps?

So...

...wouldn't that mean that the evil Liebrul etc.s rich intellectual elitists would be the ones saying it ISN'T a conspiracy??

But...

...isn't that the exact view that Zombie Central Control at RNC HQ wants the sheeple to buy into?

Does that mean...

...it's a conspiracy between the intellectual elitist rich Liebrul Klintoon-lovers and the good folks at RNC HQ to get the 'truth' about the total lack of any possible vestige of conspiracy out to the not-low income, not-low education Rest Of The Peepul?

While the...

...low-income, low education 'just folks' GOPpie base are uniting with the looney extremist Bush-hating blogleft to perpetuate the 'conspiracy' theories????

Excuse me, I need to go pick up the rest of the pieces of my head.

dazedly,
Bright
