The 50 State Strategy: What are YOU doing to help
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 02:29 PM by LittleClarkie
The Mission:
http://www.dnc.org/a/party/a_50_state_strategy/

How Democrats can and will win in every state, every county, and every precinct.

The Democratic Party is committed to winning elections at every level in every region of the country, and we're getting started right now with a massive effort to fund organizers on the ground in every state.

The ultimate goal? An active, effective group of Democrats organized in every single precinct in the country. Here's what we're doing to get there:

1. The Democratic Party is hiring organizers chosen by the state parties in every state -- experienced local activists who know their communities.
2. We bring those organizers together for summits where they can learn from each other the best practices for getting organized to win elections.
3. Armed with the knowledge they've shared with each other, Democratic organizers return to the states and recruit and train leaders at the local level.
4. Those local leaders recruit more leaders and volunteers until every single precinct in their area has a trained, effective organization of Democrats dedicated to winning votes for Democrats.

The Democratic Reunion:
http://www.democrats.org/a/party/a_50_state_strategy/the_democratic_reunion/'

This summer the Democratic Party will be hosting Democratic Reunions in every state across the country where volunteers will be gathering together to commit to contact 100 voters from their community by Election Day 2006. If you are interested in hosting an event, please contact your local state party or use our online events tool. (provided at link)

100 Actions in 100 Days, a project of the Democratic Party
http://www.100actions.com/a/2006/08/find_your_local.html

Today's action:
Join Your Local Democratic Group

No matter where you are, there are Democrats in your area. Take a minute to find and join your local Democratic group or make plans to start one.

Unfortunately, there's no good tool to connect you with a local Party or Democratic club, but there's always Google and the Yellow Pages. Your state party can be helpful in connecting you with groups in your area, too, so don't be afraid to call and ask (you can find their conact information by clicking on your state here, and then follow the link to their contact information). You can also reach out to other Democrats who you already know in the area, and see if they're a memeber of any group. Campaings can also be a resource.

Once you find (or start) your local group, be sure to add the details of the next meeting to the events tool so that others in your area know what's out there.

Meeting and organizing with area Democrats who you may not already know is a great way to build a sense of community before Election Day.

Naw, the Democrats ain't doin' nuthin

6. Sir, just did, SIR!
:patriot:

Just got my Bryan Kennedy bumpersticker in the mail today. We'll oust Sensenbrenner yet!

Now if the field organizer would only send me my ticket to the State Fair so that I can man the Dem booth next Thursday, I'll be a happy woman.

Thanks for the kick.

7. We just got our full time staffer here from the IDP.
Our office is starting to peculate, big time!

We have our IDP staffer, a staffer for Roger Stewart,(paid for in-part by Evan Bahy) one par time staffer, and of course, those of on the E board are in there as often as we can be.

P.S. If Senselessbrenner gets re-elected, I'm sending SKITTLES up there. :yoiks:

4. Doesn't it amaze you that any post about the DNC gets no attention?

We are working hard here, but having to fight the ones in the party who don't want change. They want the same ones to handle things just like they always have.

5. Thanks to you and to Lincoln. Yes, I find it quite disheartening.
I haven't gotten more than one or two replies, though I've posted 2 threads in two days. Apparently anyone who cared about Dean's plan has gone away. From the responses, I can only conclude that people would rather fight among themselves than stop a moment and tell about something positive they've done or seen.

I'm quite proud that we have four new staffers in Wisconsin, and that there are Dem challengers to counter the wingnuts. I just today got 5 bumperstickers for Bryan Kennedy, who challenges Sensenbrenner, one for me and 4 to hand out to whoever asks. I also told the girl on the phone that she could put me down for volunteering when they start phonebanking and canvassing. And I proof the county Dem newsletter.

I don't do much. It's quite minimal really. Surely someone could post something that would make my contribution look like a pittance. Surely people are doing things in their local parties.

Or maybe not.

Didn't Gov. Dean used to have quite alot of support here? Many people were rooting for him to be DNC Chairman. But is that where it ended? Do they sit in their armchairs, wondering what he's doing to help the party instead of asking what THEY could do to help the party? Or do they only think of him when he's made the news for one comment or another.

The DNC website has a wealth of tools and info for anyone who would ask the question "What are the Dems doing? What's the plan? How do I get involved?"

I plan to keep kicking these threads of mine until people are sick of them and start posting on them, if only to tell me to knock it off and go away. At least that would be a step above apathy.

8. I thought it was just my posts that no one posted to..
when I mention party activity. We had such a good Dem Reunion, not very large yet, but getting there. We almost had no party left in this area, but now we are growing one.

It puzzles me.

9. Ours too. They used to joke that we could meet in a phone booth. Not
anymore.

One of the candidates in the area is using a Dem Reunion for his meet and greet. I thought that was a fine use of the concept.

I plan to continue to post the 'activity of the day' each day until election, God willing and the creek don't rise.

10. Well, pm me when you do. I like the 100 Actions idea.
It is nice to see each thing laid out like that, easy to do .

http://www.100actions.com/a/2006/08/find_your_local.html

And things move so quickly.

And no, you are right. There are very few people here who supported Dean. They left.

I stayed to annoy people.

11. Will do. Personally I don't care if they supported Dean originally
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 10:51 PM by LittleClarkie
He's the DNC Chairman now, and if his plan is to work, he needs support. I'd like to see a bit of it.

18. Dr Dean could say, "Ask not what your party can do for you...
but what YOU can do for your party."

15. I started getting active in my local party
last year. Became precinct captain this year.

I've volunteered for several campaigns. I send out notices regarding upcoming events, have done county profiles for several state wide races, notify campaigns for local coverage or activity for their opponents, have held one fund raiser for a Congressional Candidate and am helping with another for our Secretary of State candidate. Did the flyer's and invited people to attend a Ted Strickland for Governor rally - even got a few Republicans to attend.

I'm also organizing a canvass and supporting our local party with events such as dinners, the fair booth and the parade.

I'm a little burned out at the moment. Attending meetings, events, etc. I'm in such a red area and getting people to attend things is more difficult than I thought. Even some of the party faithful, don't come through as I had hoped. I've also had so many events in my personal life recently... but.... I'm gonna regroup and keep working for my candidates.

Raw Story acquires 91-page Republican playbook for 'homestretch' campaigning

RAW STORY
Published: Friday August 4, 2006

Print This | Email This

A massive, 91-page memo to Senate Republicans outlining strategies for "homestretch" campaigning during the August recess, has been acquired by RAW STORY.

The document, signed by Senators Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), reveals plans to focus Republican Senatorial campaigns on three themes.

Next week, Republicans will tout efforts to "secure America's prosperity" through a variety of programs. Plans for small business health insurance pooling, spending reductions, increased domestic oil drilling, and "permanent death tax reform" are all to be pushed at the state level.

Mid-month, Republicans are expected to shift gears, focusing voter's attention instead on a variety of values-based initiatives. "Democrats oppose preserving a clear definition of marriage, are blocking child custody protections, and have obstructed the confirmation of fair judges," the document reads. "Republicans are committed to protecting these traditional values by fostering a culture of life, protecting children, banning internet gambling and upholding the rule of law."
