Kind of inspired by this post:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1819772We are all concerned where this trip (our country/world) is headed. My parable:
You are driving down the road comfortably self assured that you know where you are going, the turns you'll encounter along the way, and how reliable the old family car is to get there. You're so sure of your eventual success, that you've even made a few stops/side trips to shop at that little market you've always wanted to check out and had a nice leisurely lunch at that nice cafe overlooking the river. Well, now it's a bit later than you thought and starting to get dark. You don't seem to remember there being this much traffic before. The signs marking your exit have changed and they're hard to see in the dimming light. Wait, is this it ahead? Why won't that truck let you over? We're going WHERE? Damn, why'd you pick up that chimpy looking hitchhiker at the gas station and WTF were you thinking when you let him drive?
