Conyers Releases Massive New Report on Bush-Cheney Crimes
The minority staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, under the leadership of Congressman John Conyers (D., Mich.) has produced over the past many months a staggering report, just released, which documents the hard evidence of crimes and abuses committed by President Bush and his administration (breaking 26 specific laws). This report, "The Constitution in Crisis," should provide the raw material for numerous news reports and point reporters toward fertile ground for additional investigations.
Please take a look:

1. John Conyers is a true American Hero.
He's definitely one of the few bright lights left in the Democratic Party. I love this guy!

13. I just contacted CNN - Amended...my bad!
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 12:28 PM by Texas Explorer
I just called CNN to ask them why they have not covered this report. Of course, I was directed to the Public Information Office at CNN and was told they would forward a message from me to the newsroom, to wit:

Why has CNN not covered this report after giving copious press to the 9/11 Commission Report and the CAIB report on the shuttle Columbia investigation? What makes this report less newsworthy to CNN?

Edit: BTW, if I am wrong and have just missed CNN's report on their website or on TV, someone feel free to correct me and provide a link.

Ok, I stand corrected; here is Jack Cafferty talking about it:

8. You made a funny - "Provide the raw material for numerous news reports
and point reporters toward fertile ground for additional investigations."

If that happened we would not be in the mess we are now in. Also, if he were a Democrat, the MSM really would do something - as it is......

16. Why especially?
Is John Conyers a duly elected member of the House, or not? Isn't what he does just as newsworthy as any other politician?

27. Oh, I know exactly what you mean. Let's hope Cafferty's voice isn't
the only one heard in the vast wasteland of corporate TV, A lot of people do listen to and trust him. He's no "shrill liberal" - his anger over what happened after Katrina and the other scandals is sincerely felt. He feels betrayed and is trying to wake people up to what is happening.

Wish this had been issued on a Monday.

We need DUers to help fan a media blitz, not a Friday news dump.

I hope Conyers has something lined up somewhere up for the Sunday morning rounds.

24. OK--- What does THIS mean?? (Conyers quote)
(...)

We're not trying to play Department of Justice or prosecutor. We're trying to put on the record before too much other history blurs this," Conyers told me. " making sure that what we see as at least a couple dozen violations of federal statute do not go unnoticed. . . . We're trying to make sure that we have the fullest record of this, so that this won't be the work of industrious historians ten years from now."

If the Democrats take back the House, would this lead to impeachment?

"There's no way I can predict whether there will ultimately be an impeachment proceeding underway or not," Conyers replied. But with three months to go until the midterm elections, "to be putting together a list, an agenda for the Judiciary Committee. . . smacks me as being a little. . ." he didn't finish the sentence.

(...)

from interview a few days ago with TPM Muckraker's Justin Rood
http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/001273.php

(Bold emphasis mine)

Dems, PLEASE don't do this stuff. Especially if you want the country to pay attention for even 5 minutes. Finish your sentences!

29. John Conyers, slogging away day and night as one of the few champions
of our liberties. And very importantly, he is making this a part of THE RECORD. I hope this serves as some of the underpinnings for the great unravelling .
