Five Things Bush Should Do While "Working Pretty Hard" In Crawford
<snip>

The biggest problem is the widespread feeling that, although his administration dubs Crawford the "Western White House," Bush spends too much time playing rancher, and not enough time playing president.

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, no doubt aware of the criticism, tried to pre-empt it yesterday.

“My guess is he's going to be working pretty hard,” Snow said. “So this is not something where he's simply going to be gallivanting and ignoring the realities of the situation.”

That said, JABBS is offering the Bush Administration a list of things the president may want to do while in Crawford.

Hint: Photo-ops of Bush clearing brush didn't make the list.

3. Practice his resignation speech
along with the speech he makes when Cheney steps down because of his health and to spend more time with his family.

10. unfortunately
snickering isn't going to win the Democrats anything. Conservative radio in particular and the bloggerdom like to focus on what they call the "hate Bush" mentality. It allows them to say that the left has no new ideals, only unfair criticisms.

6. like it or not
he's going to be president for 2 1/2 more years. it'd be nice if he accomplished something -- like ending the messes in the Middle East.

7. I have mixed feelings about him actually working on solving things
Ideally I would LOVE it if he would actually work hard on solving situations like what is going on in the ME if I thought he would actually not make it worse.

that and I was being "funny"

8. is it realistic
to assume that Bush has no interest in salvaging his legacy?

If he leaves office in 2008 with an Iraq civil war, unrest in the Middle East, $400B-plus deficits, Osama still on the loose, gas prices over $3/gallon, etc., it would be very hard for anyone to spin him as a success.

The right wing will try, I'm sure, but still.

Throw in that if the Democrats regain Congress, and the Democrat in 2008 trounces the Republican for president, and really, there would be no positive legacy.

So, don't you think Bush will try to do something? Simply saying things are going well clearly isn't working anymore.

11. the reference to pretzels
is to Bush choking.

So is this better than when Ann Coulter talks about poisoning a Supreme Court justice or Melanie Morgan says NYT editors should be tried for treason and then sent to the gas chamber?

Is this really the best DU can do? Snicker?

13. sorry
didn't mean to have a sense of humor or anything.

If you want, I will make a list of what I think Bush should do, but seeing as how I doubt he'll do it, I'm not convinced it's more productive than snickering.

my bad.

12. Geez, do you really want this dumb S.O.B. to do anything?
Best thing he can do for the country is to crawl into bed with Condiliar for the next couple of weeks. Any time this schmuck does something for this country, people die. :wtf:
