This may make Lieberman supporters happy.
"Do as I say - not as I do"

http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20060803-112200-4787r.htm

I live in North Georgia so I don't oppose or support either one.

I do have a more favorable opinion of Senator Lieberman, though. Most Georgians do also.

1. I don't think stock ownership precludes someone...
from criticizing a business. Remember the righties crowing about how Michael Moore owned Halliburton stock?

2. Your source is a rightwing pile of crap.
And this nonsense has been debunked already today. Lamont holds an S&P index fund that holds walmart stock. This is just desperation on joememento's part. Another pathetic smear from the official voice of rev. moon.

Oh and welcome to DU.

16. I would think if there was a link..
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 10:44 AM by lonehalf
..someone with a knowledge of search engines would find it.

My opinion comes from the Democratic Committee polling Georgians on various topics.

LaMonnt isn't even known to the great majority of them - no surprise there. Lieberman has appx 72% approval ratio.

It has been going down lately - the last poll was 7/22.

Other polls show that the Republicans will pick up two House seats (three if McKinney loses) and keep the Governorship. I personally don't believe this but that's what the polls show.

They also show that Hillary would lose Georgia against any Republican.

But just among Democrats, Gore is the favorite.

you could provide a link. That's known as courtesy.

21. The article is crap
buried in it one might be able to figure out that Lamont owns an S&P index fund that in turn owns some walmart stock. The dividends cited are the return on the index fund, not walmart dividends. The article is a piece of crap attack ad from rev moon.

And worse, as a Senator helps Halliburtion to increase their price and profits.

Liebermann is a asshole liar.

13. This article says That LaMont...
...owns Halliburton.

http://www.boston.com/news/education/higher/articles/2006/07/21/lamont_earned_28_million_in_2005_tax_returns_show/

And that it's in a managed account, not a mutual fund.

Who you gonna believe?

10. Someone with the money that
Lamont does doesn't sit down and stock pick. He may not have even known that he had it and as a percentage of his portfolio it is likely an insignificant amount. Sometimes it is good to own a stock in a company you hate, it gives you voting privileges. I don't see this as any plus for Leiberman, he's running scared and after a third term he shouldn't need to be so defensive, he should be talking about his record but he can't, people don't like it.

12. Actually it makes me very sad.
Sad that my party has lost it's way, to consider a Wal-Mart profiteer as a new progressive hope over a true progressive who participated in the civil rights movement fourty-some years ago.

CT residents very sad that someone like Lieberman, who fought for civil rights and for the little guy all those years ago is now a sellout and a tool of the Republican Party.

Oh and by the way, I have a 401K invested in several funds and a separate mutual fund. I wonder how many companies I don't love I am "profiteering" from? :eyes:

Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 10:29 AM by calico1
as do most Southerners. As a Southern visitor to our state gushed when Lieberman came by her daughter's home where she was visiting: "I love Joe Lieberman because he supports George Bush!"

Simply put, Lieberman chose the wrong team. Sucking up to that RW tit hasn't served him well at all... and now he's paying the price.

Hopefully... good ridance. We don't need no stinkin' servile suck fish.
