Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Poetic Beauty of Al Sharpton
While on Hairballz tonight, pitted against Holy Joe's spokesmodel guy, they were bouncing back and forth the whole Jame Hamsher black face crap. The spokesmodel was trying to keep the debate on that. Al wasn't having any of it. When the spokesmodel pressed him on Holy's (very good, I would say) record on matters racial, Al was ready.

(Paraphrased) "I grew up under Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Martin Luther King. We admired and appreciated the brave actions of Lyndon Johnson's signing of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965. But that did not stop us from withdrawing our support for him because of the VietNam War. We are not single issue voters."

Al Sharpton is NOBODY's fool. And he is EASILY on our A-List of teevee yakkers .... if not THE A-list!

1. I wonder how many people tried to lecture him about being "pragmatic"?
Just wondering.

4. Not only was Sharpton as sharp as ever, Bareknuckle
Barnacle did an outstanding job all the way through, with all his guests.
If Abrams would give him that gig as a permanent assignment and he continued his businesslike performance, they would have me as a devotee--wouldn't that be cool? Barnacle and Olberman.

5. I Also Loved When Sharpton Said
"And Senator Lieberman is no LBJ". That was great and how he told JL's spokesman to stop trying to distract from the really important matters of the campaign. Also thought Barnacle did a great job this week, a huge improvement on Whorah.

12. A little tribute
to the classic "...and you're no John Kennedy..." debate tactic. Worked well, too!

10. Did Joe's spokesboy forget his hemorrhoid cream?
He bounced up and down the entire interview.

11. He did look
rather uncomfortable! I don't think that many people want to debate Al Sharpton. This fellow brought all of the old school tactics for trying to avoid talking about the war. Al didn't let him get away with that weak crap he brought to the debate. I considered it not only a pleasure in the sense that Al was advocating for the progressive democrat, against the neoliberal Lieberman, but also because it was a wonderful example of how to keep a debate focused on what is important.

13. I'm made to wonder if any of our guys are studying the game films
Cuz they oughtta!

(Anyone) Say what you will about Sharpton, he's smart and he is the master of the teevee soundbite debate that is about all that passes for political discourse these days.

14. Al has a sharp wit and sharper mind...he is a top-notch debater.

Where other liberal talking-heads will ignore totally bogus and/or misleading points made by the opposition, Al will come out with both guns blazing. He is very knowledgeable on a wide range of issues so they can rarely slip one by him.

And his use of humor to put opponents in their place is a really effective tactic and never fails to put a smile on my face.
