1. this is the base that Lieberman will appeal to...
...if he runs as an independent-- to republicans. He'll be hoping to cobble together a majority out of diehard Joementum dems and republicans. The key to preventing that will be for Lamont to beat him decisively enough in the primary to make it clear that such a coalition cannot be assembled with sufficient strength to avoid humiliation.
