5. Hil: Rummy is/has presided over a failed policy. Given his track
record, why should we believe him now? Rummy sounded disappointed in that.
Claims he never painted a rosy picture of what was going on.
Hillary wants record to remain open; I think she wants to provide more questions and quotes
from Rummy, showing the rosy picture he indeed did paint.
Rummy mentioned the length of this war and estimates, ending with the fact that the cold war
lasted 40 years. Scary-didn't go so far as to say this is an equivalent, but it was inferred.

8. Quote for the day
Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes … known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.

— James Madison, Political Observations, 1795

I had to leave the hearings when Rummy and Pace began to blame Congress for not providing enough money - responding to reports of Army readiness.

U.S. Military Spending as Compared with the World: Fiscal 2005

*The US military spending was almost two-fifths of the total.
*The US military spending was almost 7 times larger than the Chinese budget, the second largest spender.
*The US military budget was almost 29 times as large as the combined spending of the six “rogue” states (Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria) who spent $14.65 billion.
*It was more than the combined spending of the next 14 nations.
*The United States and its close allies accounted for some two thirds to three-quarters of all military spending, depending on who you count as close allies (typically NATO countries, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan and South Korea)
*The six potential “enemies,” Russia, and China together spent $139 billion, 30% of the U.S. military budget.

4. Hillary is kicking his ASS up to his shoulders!
Paraphrasing here, but basically she said that the admin BLUNDERED in the post-war occupation. He, of course, took umbrage, but she's now going to read into the record all of Rummy's "rosy Iraq" statements!

7. Ah yes, the old "post-war blunder", no mention that the war was illegal,
immoral and completely unnecessary.

6. She did a good job questioning him. Last question was why he
paints a rosey picture of Iraq? He got ruffled over that one! He said he NVER paints a rosey pic! Hillary asked for permission to submit for the record, a list of the statements of the Sectary painting rosey pictures (her time was up) and they will be sumbitted!

9. That was a yawn fest
A Democrat finally gets mainstream air time and she chooses to use it to rehash 2 year old talking points. She should have focused on the civil war and promised troop drawdown and threats of coups NOW instead of the old stuff that everybody has already heard.

10. I have a question for her
When you were on the Senate floor, justifying your vote for the war that you were about to cast, and you said "I trust this White House...", did you honestly think the wingers would let up on their hate campaign? Additionally, did you actually believe the Dem base would tolerate such utter crap?
